Congratulations to our club for being awarded a certificate for our MassSTAR donation and Special Recognition in Women's History and Resource Center (WHRC) for sponsoring the bookcase exhibit at the Firehouse Museum at the GFWC Massachusetts Annual Meeting in May. These awards are for club work completed in 2025.

MassSTAR (Massachusetts Youth Leadership Foundation) offers a free leadership conference each year, held at Lasalle University for a HS sophomore.

The Agawam Juniors were pleased to give a donation to the Firehouse Museum for the H. Porter Distillery / Agawam Gin small bookcase.

In 1999 the Agawam Juniors "planted" a memory box at the Captain Charles Leonard House (where they used to met monthy). Co-President Donna Shibley was joined by David Cecchi, CCLHouse Trustee, and Bruce Cortis, Agawam Historical Association member (who had a metal detector) who met there to look for the artifact.
It was found, under the bench, by the tree on the school side (the only instructions they had) and dug up.
A few items survived including an Agawam Advertiser article about the club's drive to purchase a Thermal Imaging Unit for the Fire Agawam Fire Department spearheaded by clubmember Wilma Gillian.
Another survived artifact was a Polaroid photo of Santa and Mrs. Claus (member Barbara O'Connor) from our yearly Breakfast w/ Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Our pink AJWC club mug also survived.

Memorial Day
This Federal holiday observed on the last Monday in May commemorates the men and women who died while in military service. All Americans are encouraged to pause, wherever they are, at 3:00 pm local time for a minute of silence.
NOT happy Memorial Day! This holiday that marks a solemn remembrance of everyone who died serving their country. It is supposed to be a day of mourning the lost and appreciating their sacrifice.

Frustrated with broken holiday lights, or just have a bunch that no longer suits your needs?
No matter the reason, resist the urge to through holiday lights in the curbside trash or recycling cart. Holiday light strings are known as "tanglers" in the recycling industry. Tanglers are things like plastic bags, ropes, cords, hoses, wires, and light strings that jam sorting machinery by wrapping around the equipment, which is dangerous for workers.
Recycle your string lights by dropping off at the Department of Public Works.
December 1-January 15
Acceptable items: Holiday string lights only
Please remove all packaging. No cardboard or plastic bags.
Unacceptable items:
Window Candles
Alternative options for recycling light strings would include mail back programs such as HolidayLEDs.com or Christmas-light-source.com
