John Sappington Chapter Daughters Of The American Revolution

John Sappington Chapter Daughters Of The American Revolution Welcome to the PUBLIC site for the John Sappington Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

Our OBJECTIVE is to support historic preservation, patriotism, and education. The Chapter is named after Patriot John Sappington, born 1750 in Maryland. During the Revolutionary War, he served as Sergeant in the 13th Virginia Regiment, 1776-1778. He fought under the command of General Washington at Valley Forge. He later settled in Fort Boonesborough, Madison County, Kentucky where he became a goo

d friend and neighbor of Daniel Boone. John and his family followed Daniel Boone to Missouri and in 1803 purchased a Spanish land grand along River au Gravois in the Territory of Louisiana (now Saint Louis County, Missouri). John and his wife, Jemima Fowler Sappington, raised seventeen children. When he died in 1815, he was buried beside his wife in Sappington Cemetery Crestwood, Missouri. Several family homes still stand in the vicinity. The John Sappington Chapter was organized in February, 1966.

John Sappington chapter took a bag from the Service in Seconds event at state conference to one local fire station in Affton, Missouri today. We added some goodies and we’re going to be sharing a second bag with another local community fire station soon. The fire station personnel were so friendly and able to share their history and their brand new truck with us.

Happy teacher appreciation week! We will be making some deliveries next week to celebrate teachers.
