It was an honor to present the colors at Crossfit 920 as area athletes completed a workout called the "Murph". The Murph is named in honor of U.S. Navy SEAL Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, who was killed in action on June 28, 2005, during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan.

Lt. Murphy created the workout himself—originally calling it “Body Armor” because he performed it wearing his protective vest. After his death, CrossFit adopted it as a Hero WOD to commemorate his courage and sacrifice. Each Memorial Day, athletes around the world complete the Murph to honor him and all fallen service members.

Post 523 was honored to present Addison Stamsta with a $250.00 scholarship. Addison is the granddaughter of member Tim Eichman. She will be studying orthodontia.

Congratulations to Greta Colar, the Oconto Falls senior and recipient of the 2026 American Legion Post 523 Scholarship. Greta plans to study Criminal Justice at UW-Eau Claire. Best of luck, Greta!

American Legion Post 523 extends our sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of our First Annual Gun Raffle. Your participation allows us to continue our mission of supporting active‑duty service members, veterans, and our local community.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported American Legion Post 523’s First Annual Gun Raffle. Your generosity helps us continue our mission of serving active‑duty military stationed around the world, supporting veterans from every branch, and strengthening the communities we call home.

Our live gun raffle event is coming up next Saturday, April 4th, at CJ’s Country Club, 3049 County Rd EE, Abrams, WI. Festivities begin at 1:00 PM. Along with the main raffle, we’ll also have 50/50 raffles, bucket raffles, and chances to win Scheels gift cards.

There are still squares available for just $40 each. If you’d like to purchase a square ahead of the event, please send me a private message. We accept cash, credit/debit cards, and Venmo (a small processing fee applies to credit/debit card and Venmo payments).

Thank you again for supporting Post 523 and the veterans we serve. This event is shaping up to be something special, and we can’t wait to see you there.
