We have 2-3 spots still available for Middle School Age Students (or those who just graduated 8th grade), but the high school spots are full. This is open to anyone interested in going from our area communities.

We couldn't hand-pick a better group if we tried. The gentle way they love on our littles, the volunteer everyone lovingly calls "Grandma," the one who shows up with chocolate milk every single time—it's the little things that make the biggest difference.
These small acts of kindness create a place where people feel seen, loved, and cared for. We are so grateful for each volunteer who gives their time, their heart, and a little extra sweetness to our community.

We started yesterday’s Core night with a wonderful Taco Fiesta thanks to the volunteers at the Community Meal. We are blessed with wonderful meals every week to feed our Core Leaders and their families.

Turns out it's never too late to get your driver's license. 🚗✨ Watching her bloom and grow in confidence has been such a joy. Even sweeter has been seeing her Core family cheer her on every step of the way, celebrating every milestone and believing in her. It truly takes a community to help someone thrive. ❤️

Here at Abilene Core Community, we are so much more than the poverty that afflicts us.
We are a support system that equips and prepares.
When life gets heavy, when trials seem overwhelming sometimes it can be easier to just quit. Especially when you don’t have adequate resources.
This weekend I learned how inconveniences and hardships in life can present a significant road block to progress and oftentimes achievements. Together, a Core Leader and I stepped up and provided transportation to another Core Leader who needed it to finish a process to reach a major accomplishment. All it took was keeping an open calendar and the ability to say “yes”. The reward was being the first person to hear the words “I passed!”. Think about this the next time someone reaches out. You may be the one to provide the detour around that roadblock of life. You may just be the one to lift another and make the difference.

The WINNER of the Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest Peoples Choice is the entry submitted by Alan Baier and his daughter, Alice. Votes were tallied from those received at the event and those voted on with a 💜 during the voting time frame on Facebook. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all participants! Watch for announcements next spring for revise categories and new prizes.
