🚨 TRINI TRAFFIC CHECK 🚨

Leaving Port of Spain this evening? 😭 Good luck! The roads are looking real disrespectful right now.

Hope you packed the essentials: snacks 🍟, a full tank ⛽, phone charger 🔋 and a playlist long enough to survive the journey because… yeah, we might be here for a while. 😂

🚗 HEADING EAST — POS ➡️ Piarco & environs

Trying to catch a flight? You might want to start the journey yesterday. 😭

The Churchill Roosevelt Highway is basically a giant parking lot right now, with travel times ranging from around 1 hr 38 mins via Caroni to a painful 2 hrs 18 mins on the main stretch.

Add the evening rush + flood/weather warnings around Caroni and Piarco, and it's moving at “see you tomorrow” speed. 🫠

🚙 HEADING SOUTH — POS ➡️ C3 / San Fernando

Southbound traffic is not playing either. 😩

The Uriah Butler Highway is solid red from the turnoff all the way through Chaguanas, Freeport and Couva, with around 2 hrs 41 mins just to reach C3.

There are also reported hazards and flooded areas along the way, so expect the journey to be even slower.

At this point, the real question is:

Are you stuck in traffic… or did you make the wise decision to stay back, grab some food and let everybody else fight for their lives? 😂

Drop your traffic updates below 👇
And please, take it easy and stay safe on the roads. 🇹🇹

TRAFFIC ADVISORY / MORNING UPDATE 🚗🚨

Morning everyone! Traffic is looking really heavy this morning, so if you're just heading out, pack your patience or get ready for a slow commute.

Here is the current road situation:
* Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway (Northbound): Gridlock from Couva/Brechin Castle and Chase Village through Charlieville and La Paille up to Grand Bazaar; it’s crawl-and-stop all the way.

* Churchill Roosevelt Highway (Westbound): Heavy bumper-to-bumper traffic from Maloney, Lillian Heights, El Dorado, and Mt. Lambert heading into Barataria and Town.

* Eastern Main Road & PBR Corridor: Extremely slow movement through Mt. Hope, Mt. Lambert, and Barataria for those trying to reach Port of Spain.

* Central Connectors: Chaguanas, Endeavour, Petersfield, and the Southern Main Road / UBH corridors are all locked up with heavy traffic.

Pro Tip: If you haven't left home yet, stay home 😂 🚗💨

🚨 WAZE FEATURE ALERT: SUDDEN SLOWDOWN

You know that feeling when you're cruising down the highway, road clear ahead, and then… BOOM! Traffic backing up just around the bend. 😩

Well, Waze has something new for that: Sudden Slowdown. 👀

The feature can alert you when you're travelling at a higher speed and there’s a significant slowdown or traffic queue coming up ahead — giving you a little more time to ease off the accelerator and prepare for the traffic.

And no, it won't be shouting at you every time traffic slows down. 😂

It's dynamic, so the alert is intended for situations where you're moving faster and approaching a sudden slowdown. If you're already crawling along in traffic, there's obviously no need for the warning.

🇹🇹 Where could this come in handy?

🚗 Highway traffic suddenly backing up
You're moving along nicely and traffic comes to an unexpected stop ahead.

🛣️ Around bends & hills
Sometimes you can't see the queue until you're almost on top of it.

🚧 Accidents, roadworks & incidents
Traffic can go from flowing freely to “well… we're here for a while” real quick.

Why it matters

👀 More awareness — Gives you an earlier heads-up about what's happening ahead.

🦶 More time to react — You can start slowing gradually instead of braking suddenly.

🇹🇹 Perfect for our highways — Especially those situations where traffic backs up unexpectedly and visibility isn't great.

📲 One thing to note…

Sudden Slowdown is being rolled out gradually.

So if you don't see it on your Waze yet, don't worry! It should become available to more users over the next few weeks.

So the next time Waze tells you “Sudden Slowdown Ahead”…

Maybe listen to it before you end up becoming part of the traffic jam. 😂

Have you gotten the feature yet? 👀🇹🇹

🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT | EASTBOUND 🚨

First day back at school and the evening commute already choosing violence. 😭😂

🚨 ACCIDENT on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway EB around the Aranguez/El Socorro area, and it’s causing major backups heading east out of Port of Spain.

🚗 Traffic is backing up heavily from the Aranguez area and stretching back toward Port of Spain. If you’re leaving POS and heading east this evening, prepare yourself mentally AND spiritually. 😂

🎒 First day of school:
Students: “We survived!”
Parents: “We survived!”
Traffic: “Not so fast.” 💀

If you don’t have to head east right now… doh. 😭🇹🇹
