Yesterday, Jhpiego Sierra Leone was represented at the commemoration of the World Hand Hygiene Day, organized by the Ministry of Health through the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) programme.

The theme for this year’s commemoration: “Action saves lives. Save lives: clean your hands,” emphasized why hand hygiene is essential to saving lives.

Representing Jhpiego Sierra Leone, Senior Program Manager, Monica Greene, reaffirmed our unwavering commitment to strengthening infection prevention and control across the country’s health system.

In her statement, she emphasized: “Hand hygiene lies at the heart of our work. Clean hands are not optional, but they are part of who we are. Clean hands protect health workers. Clean hands protect patients. Clean hands protect communities.”

Jhpiego Sierra Leone continues to support the Ministry of Health in promoting simple, evidence-based actions that save lives because clean hands are the foundation of safe, quality care.
