: GIRLS TAKEOVER 2026

Today, we had a productive engagement with the of Sierra Leone ahead of the 2026, an initiative that will see an adolescent girl step into the role of Chief Minister for a Day.

But that’s not all. On the day, other girls will also step into the roles of , creating an opportunity for girls to experience leadership, engage with decision-makers, discuss issues affecting their lives, and see themselves as leaders capable of shaping their communities and country.

Sierra Leone is giving girls a platform to lead.

And this is exactly what we mean when we talk about promoting girl leadership.

As an organisation, we believe girls should not only be spoken about in rooms where decisions are made girls should be in those rooms, sitting at the table, asking questions, sharing their experiences, presenting solutions and engaging directly with people in positions of authority.

Girls Takeover is about creating that space.

It is about helping girls see that leadership is not something reserved for others. It is something they can aspire to, prepare for and step into.

One day. One seat. Multiple voices. One powerful message: .
