A New Chapter at Peacehaven Nursing Home: Skylark 🏡

On 21 September, residents returned to Skylark, after staying in a temporary living area while their home underwent extensive renovations.

The refreshed space is warm, beautiful and inviting. More than the opening of a renovated area, the day marked a welcome return for the seniors who live there. Before residents moved back, our Spirituality Team led a prayer for the space and for everyone who will call it home.

Volunteer Tommy Tan and his student sang songs with residents, while staff and nurses prepared mooncakes and Chinese tea to enjoy together. It was a gentle way to settle back in and celebrate this new chapter at Skylark.

Thank you to everyone who helped prepare the space and welcome our residents home. We look forward to seeing everyday life unfold in their refreshed living area!

Team Peacehaven AAC Takes 1st Runner Up at the APEX Drone Soccer Championships 🏆

A bigger arena and a narrower goal opening made this a new test for our Bedok Arena AAC drone soccer team at Temasek Polytechnic on 19 September.

Our seniors competed in a standard cage measuring 8 by 4 by 3 metres, which was two metres longer and one metre wider than the one they were used to. The goal opening was also reduced from 40 cm to 30 cm, giving them more space to cover and a smaller target to score through.

Despite the unfamiliar setup, Team Peacehaven AAC, led by Captain Tanky, took on nine intense rounds and finished as 1st runner up. Congratulations to every member of the team for rising to the challenge. Peacehaven is cheering you on!

On 23 August, 28 seniors from Peacehaven Bedok Arena Active Ageing Centre spent their Sunday afternoon exploring OneSG61 with Antica Community Development and Services at Perennial Business City.

Between the live music, carnival games, interactive exhibits and snacks, there was plenty for everyone to discover. One highlight was CareCam, an AI-powered technology that assesses a person’s gait to identify potential fall risks. Seniors were keen to see how technology could support safer ageing, while those living independently also took an interest in home-monitoring solutions that could offer greater peace of mind.

The afternoon ended on an energetic note with a lung-capacity challenge, bringing seniors and organisers together for some friendly competition before everyone headed home with a goodie bag.

Mid-Autumn at Heartbeat @ Bedok 🏮

Hands shot up almost as soon as the quiz questions were asked! It was one of many spirited moments on 25 September, when around 118 seniors gathered at Heartbeat @ Bedok to celebrate Mid-Autumn together.

The afternoon kicked off on a high with a pomelo peeling relay. Each team member had just 10 seconds before passing the pomelo on, making every second count! Seniors from Peacehaven Bedok Arena then put on a fantastic line dance performance. Quizzes, prizes and karaoke singalong kept the energy going all afternoon.

It was a pleasure to celebrate alongside seniors from Foo Hai Buddhist Cultural & Welfare Association, St Andrew’s Senior Care (Bedok North) and Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities. A big thank you to the staff and volunteers who made it happen, and to NTUC Health, our ICCP partner. Our seniors brought so much enthusiasm to the day and headed home with mooncakes and lanterns in their goodie bags!

Mid-Autumn Together at Peacehaven Nursing Home 🏮

The pomelo peeling contest had barely begun when some residents were already reaching for their pomelos. A few even tried to get a cheeky head start before the MC finished the countdown.

That playful energy carried through Peacehaven Nursing Home’s Mid-Autumn celebration. Aloha Coast’s ukulele group and a group of UWCS parents joined volunteers and staff for an afternoon of music and activities with residents. Some residents danced with volunteers, while one who used to play drums in a band tapped along to the music with their fingers.

Residents tried water calligraphy and puzzle matching, then got hands-on with making soft-food mooncakes. They flattened the dough, added durian filling, rolled it up and shaped their mooncakes. The durian was a hit when it was time to eat.

Thank you to Aloha Coast, the UWCS parents, our volunteers and staff for the music, company and helping hands throughout the afternoon. Together with our residents, you made this a lively, joyful Mid-Autumn celebration!

Lanterns overhead, mooncakes on the table and an afternoon to celebrate together! 🌕

Our HR team decorated the space and prepared tea and mooncakes for staff to enjoy. Colleagues wrote compliments for one another, answered pop quiz questions for snacks, watched a video about the story of Chang’e and painted lanterns of their own.

With plenty to see, do and share, it was a lovely chance to pause and enjoy each other’s company. Behind the decorations and activities were colleagues who made time amid their own busy schedules to plan and prepare it all. Thank you, HR team, for the thought, effort and care you put into giving everyone this time together. 🏮
