Every year, thousands of international students 🧑🎓 choose Skåne for higher education. At Lund University alone, international students make up around 31% of the student population, with students from more than 130 countries 🙌.
At the same time, access to qualified talent 🌟 is becoming increasingly important for regional competitiveness, yet many international graduates 🌍 who would like to stay in Sweden leave the region after graduation.
Through the Cross-border Talent Bridge project, our long-running Kick-Start Career Program is now open to international master's students in the fields of tech and life science 🔬, supporting them in understanding and navigating the Swedish and Danish labor market, strengthening their job-search skills, and gaining insights into workplace culture.
👋 Meet Francesca LoVerde, one of the participants in our career program and a recent master's graduate who wants to stay in Skåne, contribute to the local labor market, and continue her professional journey here.
"Hej, I’m Francesca! I moved to Lund from the US to pursue a master’s degree in geology 🪨. I had always wanted to live abroad, and furthering my education was the perfect opportunity! Over my nearly three years in Sweden, I fell in love with life 🩷 here and decided to stay.
My professional background is in environmental remediation and teaching 👩🏫. I am currently looking for opportunities in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, communication, or project management.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲?
Workplace culture is very different in Sweden compared to the US. Through the Kick-Start Program, I learned all about the nuances of how these things are different in Sweden (and Denmark) and how I can adapt my knowledge and experience to a different environment 👩🎤.”
📅 If you are an international master’s student in your final semester, or if you graduated this year, we welcome you to explore the program by attending one of our information meetings in September.
