PUBLICATION ALERT | SCSD Lab of Quality Improvement in Surgery

Our latest study is now published in IJID Regions:
"Clinical Leadership, Evaluation, and Action Network (CLEAN) for Surgical-Site Infection Control: Protocol Enhancement in Sudan"

A national, multicentre clinical audit across 10 teaching hospitals in 8 Sudanese states, assessing adherence to SSI prevention protocols before and after a structured feedback intervention — showing that even in resource-limited settings, audit-and-feedback can drive real improvement in surgical safety practices.

Led by Dr. Yousif Omer Elgaili Yousif, with lab members Baha Aldeen Alshareif, Ahmed Abdellateef Hassan Bakry, Mohamedelmustafa Yahya Mohamed Eldouma, Ola Adil Dafaallah, and Nizar I.M. Yaqoub,Osama Suliman Idris Mahmoud, alongside the full CLEAN research team.

نحن في الجمعية السودانية لتطوير الجراحة (SCSD) نود أن نعبر عن خالص شكرنا وامتناننا لكل من ساهم في إنجاح الورشة التدريبية لجراحة المناظير في مدينة مروي الطبية، بالتعاون مع مركز الضمان للتدريب الطبي والبحوث والمركز القومي للجهاز الهضمي والكبد، والمجلس القومي السوداني للتخصصات الطبية.

اليوم هو اليوم الختامي للورشة، وهو بمثابة عودة قوية لسلسلة دورات جراحة المناظير التي بدأت بها SCSD لأول مرة في السودان عام 2022. هذه الدورة الرابعة لنا، والأولى بعد الحرب، ونعدكم بأننا سنواصل تنظيم هذه الدورات في مدن مختلفة في السودان.

نحن فخورون بتطوير مهارات الجراحين الشباب، ونسعى لرفع كفاءة الجراحة في جميع أنحاء البلاد. دمتم بخير، وبانتظار المزيد من النجاح والتقدم.

We at the Sudanese Consortium for Surgical Development (SCSD) would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the Laparoscopic Surgery Training Workshop at Merowe Medical City, in collaboration with Al-Daman Center for Medical Training and Research, the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases, and the Sudan Medical Specialization Board.

Today marks the closing day of the workshop and represents a strong return of SCSD’s Laparoscopic Surgery Training Series, which was first launched by SCSD in Sudan in 2022. This marks our fourth course and the first one since the war, and we are committed to continuing to organize these training courses across different cities in Sudan.

We are proud to contribute to the development of young surgeons’ skills and remain committed to strengthening surgical capacity and advancing the quality of surgical care across Sudan.

Thank you to all our partners, trainers, participants, and everyone who made this workshop possible. We look forward to continuing this journey together.
