🏛️ As part of the Job Shadowing SIMs – Social Inclusion Models in Youth Work project, hosted by in Iasi – Romania, youth workers from 🇵🇱 Poland, 🇮🇹 Italy, 🇬🇷 Greece, 🇪🇸 Spain and 🇷🇴 Romania had the opportunity to visit the Residential Care Home for Older People "Sf. Cuvioasa Parascheva" in Iasi, where they discovered an inspiring model of person-centred care, active ageing and social inclusion for older adults.
🤝 During the visit, the international youth workers met with the multidisciplinary team of the institution – social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists and the chaplain – who shared their professional experiences, challenges and good practices in supporting older people through holistic and compassionate care.
🌷 Participants witnessed how dignity, empathy and meaningful human connections can improve the quality of life of older adults. They observed residents actively engaged in recreational and therapeutic activities, including:
🎨 painting and creative workshops,
🧩 games and cognitive stimulation activities,
💃 dancing and social interaction,
😊 activities designed to encourage participation, autonomy and emotional wellbeing.
💡 The visit highlighted the importance of creating environments where older people remain active members of the community, maintaining their sense of purpose, social bonds and joy of living.
🌍 The exchange also encouraged participants to reflect on the links between youth work, intergenerational solidarity and social inclusion, while exploring ways to transfer and adapt similar practices within their own communities.
🙏 We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the team of the Residential Care Home "Sf. Cuvioasa Parascheva" for their warm welcome, openness and dedication. Special thanks go to Mrs. Director of the Iasi Directorate of Social Assistance for supporting and facilitating this valuable learning experience within the project.
🇵🇱 The project is coordinated by Europejska Fundacja Rozwoju Człowieka and co-funded by Fundacja Rozwoju Systemu Edukacji and the European Union through the 🇪🇺 Erasmus+ Programme.
