🐴💕 A Sweet Welcome for Our New Volunteer, Debbie! 🍬❤️ ¡Una Dulce Bienvenida a Nuestra Nueva Voluntaria, Debbie! 🇵🇷🐴💕

Today, our wonderful new volunteer, Debbie, got to meet 10 of our 29 rescued horses! And she came bearing gifts… PEPPERMINT CANDIES! 🍬🐴

🇵🇷 ¡Hoy nuestra nueva voluntaria, Debbie, conoció a 10 de nuestros 29 caballitos rescatados! ¡Y llegó con una sorpresita bien dulce… CARAMELOS DE MENTA! 🍬🐴❤️

For some of our horses, this was a brand-new taste experience, and let’s just say the reviews were mixed! 😂 Some gave them a try, while others decided those funny little candies belonged on the ground! 🤣

🇵🇷 Para algunos de nuestros caballitos, ¡era la primera vez probando esos dulcitos! 😂 Unos los probaron, pero otros dijeron: “¡Ay bendito, pero qué es esto!” 🤣 ¡Y pa’ fuera fueron los caramelos! ¡Qué mucho nos reímos! 🐴🍬

But here’s the sweetest part… I think Debbie was a MUCH bigger hit with the horses than the peppermints! ❤️🥰

🇵🇷 Pero ¿saben qué fue lo más lindo de todo? ¡Que Debbie les encantó muchísimo más que los caramelos! ❤️🐴 ¡Eso sí que no tiene precio!

It was such a joy watching her meet our beautiful rescues and begin making those special connections that make this place so magical. 💕

💔🐴🕊️ Hoy nos toca despedir a nuestra querida Abuela.

Today is a very sad day for our rescue family. We lost one of our oldest and original rescue horses, our beloved Abuela. At over 31 years old, she had lived a long life, but saying goodbye to her is still incredibly difficult. She was part of our family for almost 10 years, and her absence will be deeply felt.

La historia de Abuela con nosotros comenzó de una manera bastante particular. Recibimos una llamada sobre una yegua que estaba amarrada con una soga en un campo, embarazada, y que había mordido a una persona que intentaba darle comida. Así fue como supimos de ella, sin imaginarnos que aquella viejita con tanto carácter terminaría siendo parte de nuestra familia por tantos años.

From the very beginning, Abuela made it clear that she had a personality all her own. She was strong, stubborn, sometimes a little spiteful, and definitely not afraid to express herself. But underneath that tough exterior, there was always a glimmer of love in her heart, especially for the humans who took the time to understand her.

Sabemos que Abuela tuvo una vida muy difícil antes de llegar a nosotros. No conocemos todos los detalles de su pasado, pero sí sabemos que no tuvo la vida que merecía. Muchas veces pensamos en lo mucho que nos hubiera gustado haberla encontrado antes, haberle dado más años de tranquilidad, cariño y cuidado. Pero no podemos cambiar su pasado, solamente agradecer que nuestros caminos se cruzaron.

We were fortunate to bring Abuela into our rescue before she gave birth, and not long afterward, she welcomed her baby into the world right there in one of our fields. That moment became part of her story with us, and from then on, she had a permanent place in our rescue family.

Durante casi 10 años, Abuela fue parte de nuestro día a día. Con su carácter fuerte, sus ocurrencias y su manera tan especial de ser, nos dejó recuerdos que jamás olvidaremos. Era una viejita única, de esas que se ganan un lugar en el corazón sin tener que ser perfectas. La quisimos tal y como era.

We wish we could have given her more years, especially after knowing how difficult her earlier life had been. But we are deeply grateful for the almost 10 years she spent with us. Ten years of knowing she had a home, people who cared for her, and a place where she belonged. She may have arrived with a difficult past, but she leaves us with a lifetime of memories.

Hoy nos queda un vacío muy grande. Se nos fue nuestra Abuela, una de las primeras rescatadas que formaron parte de esta gran familia. Nos duele despedirla, pero nos consuela saber que durante sus últimos años estuvo rodeada de cuidado, respeto y amor.

Rest peacefully, sweet Abuela. We wish we had found you sooner, and we wish we could have kept you longer. Thank you for trusting us, for letting us be part of your life, and for reminding us that even the strongest, most stubborn souls deserve tenderness and love.

Hasta siempre, Abuela hermosa. 💔🕊️ Gracias por estos casi 10 años a nuestro lado. Tu historia siempre será parte de la nuestra.

You were loved, Abuela. And you will never be forgotten. ❤️🐴
