🐾 𝗴𝗔𝘁𝗢𝘀 𝗙𝗔𝗰𝗧𝗼𝘀 🐾 Why do CDG volunteers provide fresh water for thirsty Rincón gatos at feeding time every day?:
💧 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 • Feral cats can only survive 3–4 days without water. And while they sometimes find water sources in their environment, cat colonies face real challenges during dry periods — such as we are having in PR now.
8️⃣ 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 • A 10-pound cat typically needs about 8 ounces of water daily.
💪 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 • Hydration is essential for a variety of vital bodily functions, including temperature regulation, maintenance of electrolyte concentrations, digestion, lubrication of joints, and delivery of oxygen and other nutrients to the organs of the body. As a supplement to water, the 𝘄𝗲𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 CDG gives to our Rincón gatos also assists hydration.

So next time you’re at the water cooler, remember our planet’s other creatures get thirsty too! Your support helps CDG get Rincón cats through many a dry spell! 😻

Thanks to CDG efforts, Rincón street gato Mami Sirena and her gatitos have now been trapped, neutered, and returned to their barrio, where volunteers feed them daily. 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆! 😿✈️🏡😻
From alley cat to house cat — this former Rincón street gato just took off to a loving, forever family in Pennsylvania! Casa de Gatos volunteer Michelle monitored and fed her while she lived on the streets of town. Next, her adoption was arranged through CDG and she boarded her flight north just this month.

Ever wonder why gatos seem to sleep so much? It might appear like laziness, but our furry friends are actually operating on peak evolutionary design:
🌅 𝗧𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 Cats are crepuscular (most active at dawn and dusk). When power-napping all afternoon, they’re just prepping for their night shift to start.
🔋 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 In the wild as predators, cats sleep to store up energy for chasing food — a battery recharge!
🥩 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Digesting a high-protein meal takes serious metabolic work.
😽 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 Most of it is light sleep so they can still hear, smell, and react to what’s around them.
