October 13, 2026- International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction Observance in Mon Repos, Micoud, Saint Lucia. Theme: "Resilience Starts at Home" Joint initiative of the Mercy Corps-CRI PRIME Project and the Ministry of Youth Development & Sports. Partners in successful implementation included: The St. Lucia Electricity Services Ltd-LUCELEC, St. Lucia Fire Service-Micoud Station, St. John's Association of St. Lucia and the Micoud North District Disaster Commitee-SAINT LUCIA NEMO. The team visited homes in Praslin, La Pointe, Lombard, Mon Repos-Proper and Malegretoute shared useful information on preparedness and building resilience and guided residents on appropriate protocols and standards. Each household received an emergency supplies bag, a 528 gallon water tank and $100 EC credit for purchase of fittings for the water tanks. The core message left with the public is: Preparedness is everyone's business and resilience starts with you!!!

Day 1&2 at the Denbigh Agricultural Show in Jamaica where we are spreading the word about Mercy Corps Caribbean Resilience Initiative and the work we do in communities under the Preparedness Resillience & Impact (PRIME) project for those Most excluded in the region. At Denbigh we have on display a rainwater harvesting demo as well as a backyard hydronics system . We have been busy sharing information on Disaster preparedness, handing out seeds for planting, and other disaster preparedness paraphernalia such as radios, first aid kits, personal water filters etc. It has been awesome engaging with the community in this way.
