Our team had a great last day here in Puerto Rico! We started our morning at a local church and then went into the community to be an encouragement. We talked to and prayed with residents of San Luis and shared many smiles, waves and honks! One couple pulled over to speak with us and said “I had to tell you thank you for doing this. We need this. And for no reason other than to lift our spirits?? Thank you so much. We are used to people yelling at us but being encouraged is truly what we need.” 💛

Afterward it was time to buy groceries for some families who are hungry. We delivered those to the housing complex and had some last minute hugs with our friends. Afterward the team was spoiled by our friend Nancy who hosted us at her home for our last dinner together. What a great week of service and friendship!!

The team enjoyed one of Puerto Rico’s most beautiful beaches today, and we may have kidnapped Pibi to come along with us! After getting home we enjoyed a meal out together and saw our friends again at the housing complex after taking Pibi home. We’re hoping to do community outreach tomorrow but if we get rained out we will praise God for the rain!! 🌧️ 🥳

It’s particularly challenging to summarize our time in the housing complex as it came to an end this evening. So many connections were made, personal testimonies shared, hugs, tears and wishes to see each other again soon. The connections made are for life, and these moments are forever printed into our hearts. 💕

“Make sure Heather lets us know when Tabernacle is coming back. When you guys are here, even if it’s just a few hours, it’s the BEST WEEK EVER! We love having you here, the kids love you.”

“So many people are hungry here. Thanks for bringing food and letting us take plates to our neighbors.”

“Are you guys going to be back tomorrow? I am struggling with some things and want to talk about it tomorrow.”

Round 2 at Maria’s house! We managed to bucket out approx 800 gallons of water from the pool (we’re in the market for a small pump), fill 20 more contractor bags, bring out lots of furniture and clear out more “mud” from inside. It’s always hard to say see ya later but none of the team will forget Maria! 💛🙏🏽 We’ll be back in a few weeks with another group to keep working. ***Si vives en la isla y quieres ayudarnos, tendríamos fechas disponibles! It’s always heart warming when the kids know you and come looking for you! Our team got to reunite with their friends this afternoon! Frisbee, ring toss, bracelets, face (and arm and leg) painting, balloon animals and tacos in a bag! Keep praying for these kids and their families and as always our team!
