EMPOWERED TEENS:SHAPING A SAFER, BRIGHTER FUTURE!!
Mental health is an important part of our overall well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act in our daily lives. For teenagers, maintaining good mental health can be challenging because of academic pressure, family concerns, friendships, and personal struggles. Common mental health concerns among teenagers include anxiety, depression, peer pressure, and the effects of bullying and cyberbullying. These challenges can cause emotional, physical, and behavioral changes that should never be ignored.
Some emotional signs include feeling sad for a long time, experiencing extreme mood swings, constant worry, and feeling hopeless or worthless. Physical symptoms may include changes in sleeping or eating habits, lack of energy, and unexplained body pains. Meanwhile, behavioral signs can be seen through withdrawing from friends and activities, declining academic performance, or engaging in risky behaviors. Recognizing these signs early can make a big difference in helping someone who is struggling.
Another issue that greatly affects the youth is illegal drug use. Millions of Filipinos have reported using illegal drugs, with curiosity, peer pressure, stress, boredom, bullying, low self-confidence, and the desire to escape problems being some of the common reasons why young people become involved with drugs. While these reasons may seem overwhelming, drugs are never the solution. Instead, teenagers should seek healthy coping strategies, build positive friendships, and ask for guidance from trusted adults, teachers, counselors, or family members.
As teenagers, we have the responsibility to take care of ourselves and to support one another. As students of SINHS and proud members of the WINS (Wash in Schools) organization, we proudly join this campaign to promote mental health awareness, su***de prevention, and a drug-free lifestyle. We believe that every student deserves to study in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment where kindness, respect, and understanding are practiced every day.
Together, let us break the stigma surrounding mental health, encourage those who need help to speak up, and stand united against illegal drugs. By working hand in hand, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more compassionate school community. Remember: asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Every life is valuable, every voice deserves to be heard, and every student has the power to make a positive difference.
