The Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines – Leyte Chapter Inc. successfully conducted its Monthly Meeting and Benchmarking Activity on March 12–13, 2026 in the progressive Municipality of Barugo, Leyte.
The activity was graciously hosted by Hon. Atty. Jesus B. Cabanacan, Municipal Vice Mayor of Barugo and VMLP Leyte Chapter Deputy Provincial Auditor, whose active leadership and dedication to public service greatly contributed to the success of the gathering.
The event brought together Vice Mayors from across the Province of Leyte, strengthening camaraderie, cooperation, and a shared commitment to advancing effective local governance.
The program commenced with a VMLP Leyte Chapter Board Meeting, where officers and members discussed important updates, organizational matters, and upcoming initiatives of the League. The meeting served as a venue for meaningful dialogue, planning, and collaboration among the Vice Mayors in pursuit of stronger legislative leadership and more responsive local governance in their respective municipalities and cities.
Following the productive board deliberations, the League proceeded with its Benchmarking Activity within the Municipality of Barugo. The activity provided members the opportunity to observe and learn from the municipality’s governance practices, development programs, and service delivery initiatives.
Barugo’s commitment to excellence in local governance continues to be recognized nationally, having been an eight-time awardee of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of the Interior and Local Government. This remarkable achievement reflects the municipality’s strong leadership, sound governance practices, transparency, accountability, and dedication to delivering quality public service to its constituents.
The VMLP Leyte Chapter extends its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Hon. Atty. Jesus B.
