Celebrating 2 Years of Hope, Gratitude, and Compassion

The Tzu Chi Palo Great Love Village proudly celebrated its 2nd Anniversary with meaningful activities that brought the community together in gratitude and service.

The celebration began with a Mass Ceremony, where villagers gathered to pray for Godā€™s guidance and blessings for the village, its families, and the many more milestones to come.

This was followed by a Gratitude Parade, where residents expressed their appreciation for the blessings, kindness, and support they have received over the past two years.

As part of the celebration, the community also organized a donation drive for families affected by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Mindanao. Through this activity, the villagers showed that even small acts of kindness can bring hope to people in need.

The 2nd anniversary was more than a celebration of the villageā€™s journey it was a reminder of the values of gratitude, compassion, unity, and helping one another. As the Tzu Chi Palo Great Love Village marks another year, it looks forward to creating more milestones and continuing to serve the community with love and care.

SSS Seminar Held at Tzu Chi Palo Great Love Village, Multipurpose Hall

As part of the 2nd Anniversary Celebration of the Tzu Chi Palo Great Love Village, a Social Security System (SSS) Seminar was held at the Great Love Hall.

The seminar gave homeowners and residents of the Great Love Village in Palo, Leyte the chance to learn more about SSS programs, benefits, and services. They gained useful information about SSS membership, contributions, loans, pensions, and other benefits that can help support them and their families.

This activity is one of the many ways Tzu Chi continues to serve the community by providing learning opportunities and connecting residents with important government services. Through activities like this, the Great Love Village continues to help build a more informed and empowered community.

PCUP Conducts Capability Building Program for Tzu Chi Palo Great Love Village Villagers

The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP)-Field Operations Division for Visayas conducted a Capability Building Program on Government Programs, Policies, and Services for Persons with Disability (PWD) on June 29, 2026, at the Great Love Hall, Tzu Chi Palo Great Love Village, Palo, Leyte.

The activity aimed to help villagers, especially persons with disabilities and their families, better understand the different government programs and services available to them. Through the discussions, participants learned about their rights, benefits, and opportunities to access support from various government agencies.

The program also encouraged community members to become more aware and empowered in seeking assistance and participating in programs that promote inclusion and equal opportunities for everyone.

Tzu Chi Palo Great Love Village remains grateful for this meaningful partnership with PCUP, which continues to bring knowledge, hope, and support to the community, especially to its vulnerable sectors

National University of Singapore Students Visited Tzu Chi Palo Great Love Village

Students from the National University of Singapore (NUS) recently visited the Tzu Chi Palo Great Love Village in Palo, Leyte to learn about compassion, community empowerment, and stories of resilience.

The visit started at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Sto. NiƱo Parish Church, a place that symbolizes faith and hope for the people of Leyte. Afterward, the students traveled to the Tzu Chi Palo Great Love Village, where they received a warm welcome from the residents and volunteers.

The students were introduced to the story of Typhoon Yolanda and how it affected thousands of families in Leyte. They learned about Tzu Chiā€™s relief, rebuilding, and recovery efforts and how the Great Love Village became a place of hope for many survivors.

The group also learned about the villageā€™s livelihood programs, which help families especially women earn an income and become more self-reliant. Through product exhibits and beneficiary sharing, the students heard inspiring stories from volunteers, community members who rebuilt their lives after the disaster.

To make the experience more meaningful, the students joined different activity stations. They learned about sewing projects in Compassion in Every Stitch, visited The Shroom Room to see the mushroom cultivation project, and enjoyed making their own vegan burgers during the DIY Mindful Burger activity. They also met the Tzu Chi Scholars, giving them a chance to connect and exchange experiences.

The visit ended with a Call to Action: Co-investing in Resilience and a closing ceremony. The students left the Great Love Village with a deeper understanding of how compassion and community support can help people recover from difficult times.

The visit was more than a learning trip. It was a reminder that even after great challenges, hope can grow when people work together with kindness and compassion.
