Project Update: Amontay Elementary School
Today we conducted a site visit to the school building project at Sitio Amontay. Due to the condition of the dirt road, the team had to travel by habal-habal to reach the site.
We are happy to report that the three classrooms are already standing! The construction team is currently installing the structural beams, which are expected to be completed within the next two days. After that, work will continue with the installation of the roof trusses in preparation for roofing.
During the visit, we also had the opportunity to meet with the school’s teaching staff. Everyone was very happy and excited about the progress of the project and is looking forward to soon having new classrooms for their learners as well as a faculty room for the teachers.
Construction will continue over the coming months, with the project currently targeted for completion in September 2026.
A heartfelt thank you to NAK humanitas, our generous Swiss donor for helping make this project possible and for supporting the education of children in this community.

Together, we continue building a stronger and more caring community.

The NAC Church building in Asan Sur, Pangasinan is commissioned to NACSEARelief and has become a meaningful space for the community served by AWYFI (Always With You Foundation, Inc.)

Every December, it hosts a special Christmas gathering where family food packs are distributed to the families of student beneficiaries under the scholarship program—spreading hope, joy, and support during the holiday season.

Beyond celebrations, the former church building also serves as a venue for growth and empowerment. Last October 2025, a Disaster Preparedness Training was conducted, attended by the community’s DRR team, strengthening their readiness and resilience in times of emergencies.

30th January 2026, Relief-work in progress. Job not done yet.

November last year’s natural disasters, earthquake and typhoons in the region of Cebu and Davao Oriental still show open wounds especially in Mindanao.

Our Mabelle Bagtas reached out organizing additional actions and reports from Manay, Davao Oriental:

“Relief food packs distributed to 50 families (200 individuals) who were severely affected, food pack, sufficient to feed 3–4 family members for one month, containing: 20 kilos of rice, 1-kilo packs of rice noodles, salt, sugar, and mungo beans,12 packs of instant noodles, 1 liter each of soy sauce, vinegar, and cooking oil, 9 cans of assorted canned goods. Dozens of Milo and milk powder for children and adults. A set of essential sanitary items”

The affected families are currently staying in makeshift shelters made from used shipping containers, provided by DHSUD (Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development) to help restore dignity while they rebuild their lives. These temporary shelters come with guidelines, and families are only allowed to stay until mid-2026. Due to the extensive damage to their homes and loss of livelihoods, many families continue to face serious challenges and are struggling to get back on their feet. Despite these hardships, the community expressed deep joy and gratitude for the visit and support of they received.

Challenges: Livelihood still not back to normal, Temporary shelters only until middle 2026, Toilets reach their capacity and are not serviced by LGU.

NACSEARelief has ongoing action providing building material and carpentry.

Our initiative brings hope, relief, and encouragement to families as they continue their journey toward recovery. Thanks once again to our donor, NAK KARITATIV for their generosity, to Manay MSWDO and Municipal Admin office for their logistics support, as well as to ER superstore staff for helping with smooth re-packing of the food items.

OUR FIRST PROJECT in 2026

Amontay Elementary School, located in the remote area of Binalbagan, Negros Occidental is our first project this year. It just got started.

In true Bayinihan spirit the community removed to old structure.

The proposed intervention aims to support the learning environment of students and teachers through the construction of two classrooms, one faculty room, school furniture, three sanitary facilities, and handwashing areas.

This initiative aligns with our shared goal of improving access to safe, inclusive, and resilient education facilities in underserved communities. Again NAK-humanitas of Switzerland and its private donors make it possible.
