On 17 September 2026, the ECCP Board convened for a productive meeting hosted by Roche Philippines, with discussions centred on upcoming plans and activities for the Chamber.

With innovation and continuous improvement at the forefront, the Board remains focused on keeping members connected and engaged, while exploring new ways to enhance the member experience and deliver greater value in the year ahead.

The meeting also marked the Chamber’s warm welcome to Marjorie Garrovillo, Managing Director of Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC), as the newest member of the ECCP Board of Directors.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: Strengthening ECCP’s connections in Cebu! 🤝✨

From 15–17 September 2026, ECCP’s new Cebu Branch Officer, Ms. Mercedelin Buo, met with Cebu-based members and business leaders to learn more about their priorities, experiences, and interests, and explore opportunities for stronger engagement and collaboration.

Joining Ms. Mercedelin during the visits was ECCP Membership Officer Ms. Canela Reillo, with the discussions providing an opportunity to hear directly from members and identify ways ECCP can further support their businesses and encourage greater participation in the Chamber’s programmes and initiatives.

These conversations are part of ECCP’s continued efforts to strengthen its presence in Cebu and foster closer connections with its growing regional business community.

𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗: Malnutrition costs PHL $8.5 billion yearly — World Bank advisor

Malnutrition costs the Philippine economy about $8.5 billion (P534.1 billion), equivalent to 3% of gross domestic product (GDP), each year, underscoring the economic case for greater investment in nutrition, according to a World Bank advisor.

World Bank Senior Nutrition Advisor Cecilia Santos-Acuin said the cost of poor nutrition goes beyond individual health, affecting productivity, human capital and the country’s long-term economic development.

“Malnutrition alone costs us about $8.5 billion, or 3% of our GDP per year,” Ms. Santos-Acuin said during the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines’ (ECCP) fifth annual Nutrition Forum on Wednesday.

A conversation about nutrition is also a conversation about how we learn, work, grow, and build healthier communities! 🥗

At the ECCP's 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐍𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 on 16 September 2026, experts, government partners, industry leaders, and development organisations unpacked the many ways nutrition intersects with learning, human development, food access, innovation, and public policy.

The forum featured insights from Acad. Imelda Angeles-Agdeppa, National Academician of NAST and PRC Board Member for Nutrition and Dietetics; Dr. Cecilia Acuin, Senior Nutrition Advisor at the World Bank Group; Mr. Miguel Angelo Mantaring, Director IV of the DepEd Philippines; Mr. Johan Lennefalk, Trade Commissioner of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden; Mr. Kevin Carpio, Nutrition Advocacy Manager at Monde Nissin; Dr. Mercedita Macalintal, Pediatric Clinical Nutrition Expert; and Ms. Sheila Macias, Regulatory Affairs Associate of Vouno Trade and Marketing Services Corporation. Panel discussions were moderated by Ms. Helen Grace Baisa, Chairperson of the ECCP Food and Beverage Committee.

The event was also graced by Hon. Franklin Anthony M. Tabaquin IV, OIC Director General of the Food and Drug Administration Philippines, who shared about the FDA’s role in advancing collaborative nutrition systems.

Across the discussions, speakers highlighted how better nutrition outcomes depend not only on knowledge and policy, but also on collaboration across government, industry, the academe, and other sectors.

The ECCP thanks all our speakers, partners, and participants for helping move the discussion from what we know about nutrition to how we can turn that knowledge into action.

More than 200 government and business leaders from ASEAN and Europe will gather in Manila next week as trade negotiations and growing investor interest put stronger economic ties between the two regions in focus.

The 12th ASEAN-EU Business Summit will be held on 22 September on the sidelines of the ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Meeting, bringing together policymakers, business executives and development institutions to discuss investment opportunities and economic cooperation.

Tabaquin IV, OIC Director General of the Food and Drug Administration Philippines (FDA), takes the Nutrition Forum stage for his closing keynote about the FDA’s role in advancing collaborative nutrition systems. This is his first public appearance with the private sector since his appointment.

Following the keynote, Mr. Johan Lennefalk, Trade Commissioner of the Embassy of Sweden to the Philippines, and Mr. Kevin Carpio, Nutrition Advocacy Manager at Monde Nissin Corporation, will share presentations on collaborative and sustainable nutrition systems, responsible product formulation, and access and affordability.
