They are doing their part, are you?

As responsible people, we all share one simply duty: to clean up after ourselves. The streets we often times walk on, our favorite places to eat at, and the simple things like eating or drinking while taking a walk outside, they are shared spaces that deserve care and respect.

For each trash we toss aside, they stay there. They do not just disappear. It slowly destroys our communities, wildlife, clog drains, and the beauty of our mother nature and surroundings. Something as small as a piece of plastic can travel far, ending up in rivers and eventually in our oceans.

But the solution is just as simple.

It does not take much effort, and you can do it anytime, anywhere.

Throw your trash properly. Use designated bins. Recycle when possible. If you see litter, pick it up. Small actions, when done consistently, create powerful change.

They are doing their part, cleaning streets, organizing community drives, protecting nature. Are you?

Cebu City Government is set to strictly implement its waste segregation policy as part of efforts to address the growing garbage problem and improve environmental management. Households, businesses, and establishments are required to properly segregate biodegradable, non-biodegradable, recyclable, and special waste. Monitoring and inspections will be intensified to ensure compliance.

Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival has ordered barangays to strictly enforce penalties for improper garbage disposal. Violators may face fines, including a ₱5,000 penalty for dumping waste in prohibited areas such as rivers and streets. The city government emphasized that these measures aim to reduce waste volume, prevent flooding caused by clogged waterways, and promote a cleaner and healthier environment.

Authorities urge all residents to cooperate and take responsibility in properly managing their waste.

Cebu—with its breathtaking beaches, vibrant culture, and warm-hearted people is truly one of the jewels of the Philippines. But behind this beauty, our streets and coastlines are increasingly threatened by the rise of littering and poor waste habits.

‎Just recently in Barangay Binaliw, a massive landfill collapse reminded us of what happens when waste is not properly managed—affecting not only the environment but also lives. Cebu City is still facing garbage disposal issues, leading to stricter enforcement of anti-littering laws. Authorities are encouraging residents to improve trash segregation and proper disposal to help manage the problem.‎
