๐Ÿ’— Aprilโ€™s Journey: Four Years of Hope

When we first met April at just six months old, she was a healthy, smiling baby, born with a unilateral complete cleft.

In October 2022, with the support of Abounding in Love and our partnership with Operation Smile, April received her cleft lip surgery at Cebu City Medical Center.

A few months later, her family faced a heartbreaking loss when her father passed away. April and her mother moved to Bohol, and with her mother working to support their needs, her cleft palate treatment had to wait.

Four years later, Aprilโ€™s journey reached another important milestone. On October 8, 2026, she successfully underwent her cleft palate surgery through an Operation Smile Philippines - Cebu Center of Excellence medical mission.

Aprilโ€™s story reminds us that every childโ€™s journey is different. Sometimes, treatment takes time, and families need support along the way.

We are grateful to Operation Smile and everyone who helped connect April and her family with the care she needed. At Abounding in Love, we remain committed to helping families find their way to treatment and giving children like April the opportunity for a healthier future.

Today, seven children we helped connect with the Operation Smile mission have successfully received their cleft surgeries and are now recovering well.

Weโ€™re happy to see these children take this next step in their cleft journey. It means a lot to see these connections turn into real opportunities.

A big thank you to Operation Smile Philippines - Cebu Center of Excellence and the entire medical team for making this possible and for taking such good care of our beneficiaries.

Born with a cleft lip and palate, Zakiyah had to wait years for surgery. She was often unable to qualify because she was underweight, while her family worked hard to keep her healthy and strong.

Earlier this year, she received her cleft lip surgery. Yesterday, during the Operation Smile Philippines - Cebu Center of Excellence October mission, Zakiyah took another big step and had her cleft palate repaired.

Her journey has taken patience, many waits, and a lot of careโ€”but sheโ€™s made it this far.

Weโ€™re grateful to Operation Smile Cebu Cleft Center for being part of Zakiyahโ€™s journey, and weโ€™re happy that Abounding in Love could help connect her family with these opportunities.

A journey worth waiting for.

A big step for little Amara. ๐Ÿ’—

Feeding was one of the first challenges Amaraโ€™s family faced after she was born with a cleft palate. As she grew, her parents hoped she would eventually be able to eat more comfortably.

When Amara turned one, Abounding in Love helped connect her with Operation Smile Cebu for screening. On September 1, she was assessed, and within the same week, she was able to receive her cleft palate surgery. Her parents are very happy and relieved to see her doing well after surgery.

Another Operation Smile medical mission is coming this October 5โ€“10, with screening on October 5 at the Operation Smile Philippines - Cebu Center of Excellence located on the 7th floor of CCMC.

After several delays due to recurring illnesses, five-year-old Bern Allen finally underwent his cleft lip surgery on September 4 through Operation Smile Philippines - Cebu Center of Excellence. His family is overjoyed that after years of waiting, Bern has finally received his surgery.

With another Operation Smile medical mission coming this ๐‘ถ๐’„๐’•๐’๐’ƒ๐’†๐’“ ๐Ÿ“โ€“๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”, Abounding in Love continues to reach families and connect children like Bern with opportunities for free cleft care.
