Did you know that puberty does NOT happen at exactly the same age for everyone? Puberty is a natural stage of development, but the timing and changes can vary from person to person. Some may experience changes earlier, while others may develop later, and both can be completely normal.

Understanding these differences helps us avoid unnecessary comparisons, myths, and insecurities. Remember, your body has its own timeline, and there is no single “right” age for puberty.

So, is it DELULU or TRULULU? 🤔

The celebration of Linggo ng Kabataan 2026 in Aklan was made even more meaningful as the Provincial Government of Aklan, through the Aklan Provincial Population and Gender Office (AKPPGO) and Aklan Peer Educators, brought the U4U (You-for-You) Teen Trail to the young people of Barangay Poblacion, Kalibo, Aklan on August 1, 2026, at the Bliss Site Covered Court, Población, Kalibo, Aklan.

The activity was conducted in partnership with the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO), Barangay Council of Poblacion, Kalibo, and GABAY Peer Educators, with the goal of providing young people with an engaging, interactive, and youth-friendly space where they can learn, ask questions, share experiences, and become more informed about matters affecting their health, well-being, and future.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Punong Barangay, Hon. Neil I. Candelario, for his unwavering support and leadership in heading the Poblacion Kalibo Barangay Council and most especially to Ms Precious Jane Z. Fabunan, clerk from Brgy Población and former Vice President of Aklan Peer Educators.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to our Barangay Kagawads, especially Hon. Erwin Oquendo, our Poblacion Kalibo Youth Representative, Glenn Pol Sucro, and Mr. Christian Melgarejo, for joining and supporting this meaningful initiative.

A special thank you goes to the GABAY Peer Educators, headed by their President Jhon Windel Villanueva, for their dedication, preparation, and hard work in making the activity a success. Your commitment to reaching and empowering fellow young people truly embodies the spirit of peer education.

We are likewise grateful to our fellow peer educators from different municipalities—the TAKSAY Peer Educators of Tangalan, UGAT Peer Educators of Madalag, Banga Peer Educators, and Lezo Peer Educators—for your active participation, volunteerism, and commitment to youth empowerment. 💙l

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the Municipal Population and Gender Development Office of Kalibo, headed by Ate Ara Sagrav, for her unwavering commitment, mentorship, and support in empowering young people through programs such as U4U.

The success of the U4U Teen Trail reminds us that youth development is a shared responsibility. It takes the commitment of government offices, barangay leaders, youth organizations, peer educators, volunteers, and the community to create spaces where young people can learn, participate, and lead.

Today, we celebrate the voices, dreams, and contributions of young people around the world.

For the Aklan Peer Educators, youth participation goes beyond being heard—it means showing up, serving others, and taking action. Through volunteerism, peer educators become catalysts for positive change, sharing knowledge, empowering fellow young people, and helping build healthier and stronger communities.

We may come from different backgrounds, face different realities, and have different stories to tell. But we share a common aspiration: a future where every young person has the opportunity to thrive and contribute.

Because youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow. We are volunteers, advocates, changemakers, and nation-builders today.

This International Youth Day, let us continue to turn our passion into purpose, our voices into action, and our volunteerism into meaningful change.

To mark this year’s Linggo ng Kabataan of the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO), youth advocates from the Aklan Peer Educators (APE) and Red Cross Youth (RCY) gathered at Adee’s Function Hall in Kalibo on August 3, 2026, for an impactful Mental Health Forum organized by the Red Cross Youth Aklan Council.

The forum highlighted understanding bullying and its deep impact on mental health. Whereas, the speakers are Madel M. Fuentes, and Archianne Lenz I. Fernandez guided the youths through breaking down the different types of bullying and shared strategies on how to recognize and address them effectively.

While Dir. Philip Y. Kimpo, and Soviet Dela Cruz gave their opening remarks and shared inspiring experiences in order to set a positive mood and kept the audience engaged.

With a better understanding of bullying and supporting each other, these young leaders are ready to serve the youth and promote a bully-free community for the province of Aklan.
