Celebrated every year on 11 October, International Day of the Girl, the International Day of the Girl Child is a global moment to celebrate girls everywhere, amplifying their voices, and caring for their rights. This year's theme is developed after an urgent call for equality and freedom among every girl to make their own choice and ensure their own liberty.

On this day, UNICEF and UNESCO work hand in hand to challenge the harmful gender norms of many girls who have gone through child marriage within their communities around the world.
