In his fifth State of the Nation Address ( ), President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called for the passing of the proposed Sariling Kuryente Act, echoing the sentiment of majority of Filipinos that scaling can be a practical, affordable, and resilient energy solution that gives consumers greater control over their electricity costs.

Despite strong public support for wider rooftop solar and adoption, financial and policy barriers—such as the 12% VAT imposed on installations, limited financing options, complicated permitting and interconnection procedures, and limited consumer protection, among others—prevent many households and businesses from investing in rooftop solar systems.

The campaign urges Congress to deliberate on the Sariling Kuryente Act to translate the President’s vision into meaningful consumer action. Expanded access to rooftop solar is not only an investment in —but an investment in lower electricity costs, stronger , and a more secure energy future for all.

The Sayang Ang Araw: Gawing Mura ang Solar Campaign welcomes the Department of Energy Philippines' issuance of a new policy streamlining the rules for Self-Generating Facility Zero-Export Solar Systems (SGF ZESS) and consumer-grade Micro-Solar Systems (MSS).

This marks an important step toward making more accessible by reducing regulatory barriers for households and businesses. As more Filipinos gain the opportunity to generate their own electricity, we move closer to a future with more affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy.

We look forward to the Energy Regulatory Commission's issuance of the necessary licensing framework to support the effective implementation of this policy. We are hopeful that these reforms will help bring within reach of more Filipino families.

From Camiguin’s breathtaking landscapes to Mindanao’s vibrant communities, the island region is showing that a brighter future can be powered by the sun. 🌱🔆

As we embrace renewable energy, Mindanao moves toward a cleaner, more sustainable, and more resilient tomorrow—where every ray of sunshine becomes an opportunity for progress.

The future is bright. The future is solar. Mindanao goes solar. ☀️💚

Where volcanoes, white sandy shores, hot springs, wellness, and solar power shape the island. I remember my first time in Camiguin in 2010. It was a joint birthday trip with Kristina when our friend Lot invited us to celebrate in her hometown of Cagayan de Oro. From there, we ferried…

“Sayang Ang Araw, Gawing Mura Ang Solar” ania na sa Cagayan de Oro! ☀️

Another milestone for a greener Mindanao! 🌱

One of Cagayan de Oro’s malls is now harnessing the power of the sun through rooftop solar panels—proving that renewable energy is becoming the smart choice for businesses across the region.

Every solar installation is a step toward a cleaner, more sustainable future for our communities. Here’s to more establishments leading the way in embracing clean energy! 💚
