๐ COOPERATIVE IS MORE THAN A BUSINESSโITโS A WAY OF LIFE. ๐ค๐ฑ
Many people know what a cooperative is, but do we really know the principles that make a cooperative truly cooperative?
Under Article 4 of Republic Act No. 9520 โ Philippine Cooperative Code of 2008, cooperatives are guided by 7 Cooperative Principles: ๐ต๐ญ
1๏ธโฃ Voluntary and Open Membership โ Membership is a choice, open without discrimination.
2๏ธโฃ Democratic Member Control โ Members have a voice. One member, one vote. ๐ณ๏ธ
3๏ธโฃ Member Economic Participation โ Members contribute, patronize, and share in the cooperative's economic life. ๐ฐ
4๏ธโฃ Autonomy and Independence โ A cooperative remains a self-help organization controlled by its members. ๐ก๏ธ
5๏ธโฃ Education, Training and Information โ Strong cooperatives are built by informed members and capable leaders. ๐
6๏ธโฃ Cooperation Among Cooperatives โ We become stronger when cooperatives support and work with one another. ๐ค
7๏ธโฃ Concern for Community โ Our success should also contribute to the sustainable development of the communities we serve. ๐ฑ๐๏ธ
These principles remind us that being a cooperative member is more than paying share capital or receiving benefits.
It means being an OWNER.
It means being a PATRON.
It means being a PARTICIPANT.
And most importantly, it means being a STEWARD. ๐
A cooperative becomes stronger when members understand that ownership comes with responsibility.
Hindi lang tayo โmember ng cooperative.โ
TAYO ANG COOPERATIVE. ๐๐ค
When members participate, leaders serve with integrity, and everyone works toward a common purpose, we don't just build a successful organizationโwe build stronger people and better communities. ๐ฑโจ
