Sharing some snaps of our regulars at .capitolcentral 🫶🏼
Feels so surreal that we have gotten to this point. I consider myself a newbie in animal welfare. I only started 8 years ago and started strayfeeding during the pandemic. I was never aware about the overwhelming problems of animal welfare in the country before I started Pawssion Project.
I can still clearly remember during the pandemic when I would go out every night driving around Bacolod feeding strays. There were very very few humans, mostly frontliners and essential workers only. I met so many guards with dogs and cats as companion animals. Many of them loved having them around but could not really actively feed them or keep them for fear of maybe losing their jobs. It was lovely to see the strays Id regularly feed feel so free walking around and playing around the streets of Bacolod after I feed them.
And slowly, I rescued some of them. Some I’d catch and bring for spaying and neutering and vaccination and then return them. It was my 1st personal experience on TNVR. I had no guidance nor mentor, there were no policies nor agreements in place atleast for Bacolod.
All I knew then was that my soul was happy everytime I showed up for them, everytime they’d come rushing to me when I would call them by the names I would give them.
And now, atleast 6-7 years later, the very mall where Id spend atleast 2 hours with my regulars during the evenings of the pandemic has signages for animal welfare awareness, feeding stations, with guards and employees openly showing love and compassion for the community animals, regularly hosting our pop ups and kapon events.
Thank you .capitolcentral for being our regulars’ home and safe space. Thank you for protecting them and making them seen. Thank you to all the Ayala Malls for sharing your spaces to these animals and for empowering advocates like us to keep going.
