Our dearest Lolo Kristoff 🥹🫶🏼

He’s one of our oldest rescues at Balay Pawssion, saved from deathrow at the pound many years ago.

We have already accepted the fact that he may never be adopted anymore because we have a hard time looking for home even for younger rescues.

But we commit to giving him all the love and care he’s always deserved here at the shelter.

But we cant do it on our own, especially with 800+ rescues. Everyday we continue to receive so many rescue requests, people wanting to surrender their pets and we continue to pray for the strength to say no. Because of rescues like lolo Kristoff. Because we cannot afford to take in rescues and have days when we cannot even feed all of them. Food and shelter are the bare minimum.

We’re just a non governmental organization trying to not just sustain but improve the lives of the rescues under our care with no funding from the government. Everyday, we find ways to make them feel loved and cared for and address their medical needs. Many of them never make it to social media because we know how overwhelming it is to see calls for help every single time.

But we’re slowly sharing with you the rescues under our care who need help and support. People with pets especially seniors will understand that ₱1000 is not enough for supplements, vet visits and special diet and other needs monthly. But even that sponsorship cannot be met for so many of them.

As of today, just 70+ out of 800+ rescues have found a monthly sponsor. That means the whole team needs to find ways and means to sustain the rest without compromising their needs.

But we have always believed in the power of collective effort.

As we turn 8 years next month, and Lolo Kristoff probably 15 or 16, we pray more people will consider sponsoring a rescue. That more people will continue to support existing rescues and not just new ones. That more people will understand why shelters cant just take in and take in because there are existing rescues who deserve more than just food and shelter.

Please consider sponsoring lolo Kristoff or any other senior at the shelter. They deserve the best.

And then here’s dearest Farrah who underwent 5 surgeries in total since rescue!

She’s now doing so so well, she’s happy, loved and healthy.

But our work and her needs never end. Please continue to support us and the rescues while they await forever homes. Farrah’s a very sweet girl and we hope she finds a forever home.

And as she waits to find a home and a family, please consider sponsoring her or donating for her. She is so worth it.🩷

Donations are very very slow for us now and we really have days when we get little to none especially because we haven’t really taken in a lot of new rescues because we want to focus on rehabilitating the ones under our care , and reality is, rescued animals get little to no help anymore. But we also have days when vet bills alone will cost us 50k a day, food supplies for almost 500k a month. Today we just released payroll for our caretakers for atleast ₱170k for this cut off, yet we have had only 70+ rescues sponsored so far.

Sharing a few of the usual things we come across with during adoptions. 🚩

While we aim to rehome as many rescues as possible, we also love them like our own and would like to make sure they go to good homes. We don’t rehome rescues for the sake of updating our numbers and clearing our shelters. That people processing your applications are volunteers with full time jobs but are committed to allocating some time to screen applications properly.

Before going through an adoption, please remember, you are adopting a living being about to be a part of your family and it entails lifetime commitment and responsibility.

So for these red flags, with all due respect, NO.

God, thank you for giving us the chance to give the rescues the love and the home they deserve.

Some may be lucky enough to find their forever homes and their own families but while they wait for that day, and for those who may never find that, here we promise to never give up on them. We promise to forever fulfill our responsibilities not just as their rescuers but also their parents for now. Here they will never go hungry. They will always feel loved, spoiled even. Here they will create new memories.

Thank you for blessing us with the energy and the passion. Thank you for our staff and caretakers, for our volunteers and supporters and everyone who believe in our cause. Thank you for all the doors you open for us so we can continue to do the work we do.

Thank you for the purpose this advocacy bring to our lives.

Please bless us all with good health so we can always work our best and have the energy we need to fulfill our mission.
