On behalf of the Miss Bird of Paradise Provincial Committee of the, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation and sincere gratitude to everyone who provided moral support and encouragement during our first fundraising activity, the Sausage Sizzle held at Snafu Field in Kavieng Town.

Your presence, kind words, participation, and support contributed greatly to the success of this event. We are truly grateful to our supporters, families, friends, volunteers, contestant Miss Konoagil LLG Dorothy Nila, and members of the community who stood with us and believed in our vision of empowering young women and promoting the culture, beauty, and tourism potential of New Ireland Province.

FIRST MISS BIRD OF PARADISE CONTESTANT

The first contestant has officially answered the call for the upcoming Miss Bird of Paradise New Ireland Provincial Pageant.

Miss Dorothy Nila 20 years old from New Ireland, East New Britain and East Sepik province, has proudly announced her participation, representing the Konoagil Local Level Government.

Nila last attended Waigani Christian College, (Port Moresby) last year, and got selected to Philippines Christian University, but has other interest and is currently upgrading to study Law.

Her entry marks an exciting start for the annual pageant which continues to promote culture, tourism, women empowerment, and unity across New Ireland Province.

Miss Nila says she is honoured to represent her people and showcase the beauty, culture, and identity of Konoagil LLG on the provincial stage.

Chairlady of the Miss Bird of Paradise Pageant-New Ireland Amanda Tualigur have commended Miss Nila for her courage and commitment, describing her as a positive example for young women across the province.

They are also encouraging more contestants from other nine local level governments, including Tanir, Matalai, Nimamar, Namatanai, Sentral Niu Ailan, Tikana, Murat, Lavongai and Kavieng Urban, to come forward and take part in this year’s event.
The Miss Bird of Paradise Pageant is a national, cultural and leadership pageant in Papua New Guinea that celebrates young women as ambassadors for their provinces culture and communities.

Application for New Ireland’s Miss Bird is now opened and closes on June 30th. Young women between the age of 18-26, years old are encouraged to participate representing their respective LLG’s.

The MBoP New Ireland Pageant contest will fall on September before the Independence Day celebrations.

The winning contestant will be crowned Miss Bird of Paradise New Ireland Queen, to later enter the National PNG MBoP Pageant in Mount Hagen December this year.
