Newly-elected executives, chapter executives and committee members of the PNG Australia Alumni Association (PNGAAA) have gathered in Port Moresby to set out a bold vision for the Association’s future.

Australia is proud to support this new chapter, which will see alumni continue to shape Papua New Guinea’s development and strengthen the partnership between the two countries.

As the premier organisation representing thousands of Australian alumni in PNG, the PNGAAA is at the forefront of positive change in PNG, with alumni shaping policy, building businesses, improving health and education, and strengthening communities nationwide.

At an event to welcome the new executives, Australian Deputy High Commissioner Adrian Lochrin said alumni are at the heart of the relationship between the two countries.

“Since 2012, Australia has proudly supported more than 6,000 Papua New Guinean scholarship recipients access higher education opportunities through Australia Awards, Australian Awards alumni in Papua New Guinea are living proof of how education transforms lives, strengthens bonds between nations and shapes futures,” Deputy High Commissioner Lochrin said.

New PNGAAA President Mr Adrian Winnie said the Association is well prepared as it embarks on this new chapter.

“This gathering has given our executives, chapter executives and committee members the chance to plan strategically and strengthen our network. Together, we are setting the foundation for an Association that will continue to deliver lasting impact for our members and for Papua New Guinea,” Mr Winnie said.

Through Australia Awards, Australia continues to invest in alumni leadership nationally, supporting governance training, professional development and skills building. These investments ensure alumni leaders are equipped to guide their chapters and contribute to national progress.

With new leadership, stronger provincial chapters and a renewed vision, Australia will stand beside PNGAAA as it expands its reach and deepens its role in shaping a more resilient, prosperous and connected future for Papua New Guinea and its partnership with Australia.

Chapter Members,

We are the think tank of New Ireland Province, a collective force of professionals and specialists committed to shaping the future of our province.

Together, we represent a strong pool of knowledge, experience and leadership that can meaningfully align our initiatives with the Provincial Government’s development aspirations.

Going forward, we aim to position our Chapter as a key stakeholder and valued partner to the New Ireland Provincial Government, contributing expertise, strategic thinking, and practical solutions that support the Province’s growth and long term development.

At present, the NIP Chapter Executives are finalising our 2026 Annual Plan, which is designed to strengthen this partnership and position us as active agents of sustainable progress and positive change for New Ireland.

I encourage each of you to renew or pay your 2026 membership and continue to be part of this distinguished network of New Irelanders. Your participation strengthens our collective voice, influence, and ability to make a meaningful impact.

A gentle reminder to reconnect, renew, and stay engaged.

Thank you all for your continued support.

The mindset is here.
The intelligence is here.
The commitment is here.

Let’s connect, collaborate, and harness this collective strength to move New Ireland forward. Reach out the capacity already exists among us.
