One of the things we love most is following our alumni and seeing where life takes them. 🤍

After attending NZOS most recently in 2026, tenor Ivan Zhang has had quite a year. Soloist for Bach, Schubert and Haydn with Pakuranga Choral, tenor soloist at Nelson City Brass' A Night at the Opera, finalist in the University of Auckland Concerto Competition, and a cultural exchange workshop in Singapore.

All in six months. Keep going, Ivan. We're watching. 🎶

Our alumna Libby Montgomery just performed in The Water Mark, RNCM's community opera involving nearly 200 people in its creation and performance. Playing a Victorian schoolteacher, working with children, devising, performing and leaving with a pile of letters and drawings from the kids backstage.

This is what a singer can be beyond the stage. So proud of you, Libby. 🎶

Bruce Greenfield has been with us since the very first New Zealand Opera School in 1994. 🎹

One of New Zealand's finest accompanists and vocal coaches, formerly Principal Repetiteur and Vocal Coach for New Zealand Opera, official pianist for Government House, and a man who has worked alongside some of the greatest voices this country has ever produced.

He keeps coming back to Whanganui. And we keep being grateful. 🤍
