It's a cool Autumn day with leaves on the line, but our No12 tram still finds itself being busy with visitors to Whanganui. A New Plymouth family have come down, accompanied by visitors from India. Here they are, pausing for a group photo, having just ridden along our tramline.

Our tramway volunteers for today are (L to R) Bruce, Mark, Shane & Graham

A beautiful morning in Whanganui, but unfortunately, a State of Emergency has been declared as River levels rise and more rain and thunderstorms are predicted for later today. In preparation for this we have moved our 1912 Tram 'Mable' from the Tram Shed on the Riverbank to higher ground until the danger of flooding is over.

The crane in action. Grateful thanks to all who assisted. In the shed. On the tram. Making calls. A young bystander said it was good thing to keep the tram safe. « or it light’ve cost trillions of dollars to fix it ».

The tram is now safely on higher ground. The call came, volunteers relocated the team to the far end of the track and Emmett’s arrived with a giant crane. Once loaded onto a truck, the vintage vehicle was transported to a yard well out of possible flood danger.
