Love your Library NZ

Love your Library NZ Public libraries sit at the heart of their communities. They help create a sense of belonging and they respond to the needs of the people who use them.

Love Your Library by PLNZ celebrates and supports public libraries in Aotearoa, helping them provide vital services, life-long learning, and community connection while sharing news, resources, and stories that show the impact of libraries nationwide. They celebrate cultural diversity, and they help promote understanding between different cultural groups. Public libraries provide opportunities for

lifelong learning. They help children and young people develop imagination and creativity, and they give adults the opportunity to learn about their cultural heritage, and about the arts, science and technology.

When feedback becomes a story worth sharing 💛

We received a letter after a customer completed the recent Library Impact Survey.

What followed was something special.

It captured how libraries quietly support wellbeing, connection, and everyday life, so powerfully that library leaders asked if it could be shared far and wide.

Here’s an excerpt:

"After reflecting on my experience, I realised how much the library has quietly supported wellbeing, learning, and connection. It is a space that offers more than resources, it offers care, consistency, and a sense of belonging.

Through conversations with colleagues in the medical field, it became clear that libraries play an important role in supporting people in ways that are often unseen, yet deeply felt.

The impact of this work extends well beyond the walls of the building and into the everyday lives of the community.”

🔹 This is why stories matter.
🔹 This is why listening matters.
🔹 And this is why libraries sit at the heart of our communities.

Ngā mihi to everyone who takes the time to share their experiences, your words help shape the future of our libraries.
