Adoption Day - Teen Kittens 💛

This Saturday 10th of October we have 6 kittens looking for a home. There’s a few kittens here who would love a home with kids and some others who would suit quieter homes.

Female:
Arya, DSH, Tabby - 8 Months
Bartleby, DSH, Tabby - 7.5 months
Hema, DSH, Black and white - 7 months
Ms. Tuftyears, DLH, Tabby and white - 11.5 months

Bonded pairs:
Māhina, DMH, Tabby and White - 4.5 Months
Atarau, DSH, Tabby - 4.5 Months

Male:
- Pippin, DSH, Tuxedo, 6.5 Months

• To make an appointment, please PM us with your preferred time - comments asking for appointments will not be monitored.
• Please do not book an appointment if you already have one organsied with another rescue organisation - this is unfair to us as we hold an appointment space that is very difficult to fill last minute if you don’t end up needing it.
• All cats are desexed, have had at least one vaccination, are microchipped, and are up to date with flea and worm treatments.
• The adoption fee is $299 for a cat with one vaccination, $349 if they’ve had 2 vaccinations, or $550/$600 for a pair. This is payable by bank transfer or cash only.
• Our ngeru choose their owners, so please come with an open mind and an open heart. For the shy ones, we’ll help guide the decision to make sure they find the right match. None are adopted based only on looks.

Meet Jiji and Sylvia, two beautiful wildies who have come so far and are ready for loving homes. 🩶

Jiji came into care on 13 September after a local trapper saw potential in the boy destined for TNR. With patience and time, he has blossomed. He’s still cautious and skittish, but he’s a beautiful, rewarding cat waiting for someone who will help him thrive.

Sylvia was trapped on 26 October at the Berhampore colony while we were trying to catch kittens. Without a foster home, she likely would have been returned through TNR. Instead, she was given a chance (thank you to our wildie fosters!!) and the shut down little kitten who arrived has blossomed into a much more confident girl.

Both Jiji and Sylvia would suit adult only homes and could potentially live with a friendly, understanding cat or gentle dog. They are both quite dominant, so any furry companions would need to be confident and tolerant.

Because they are still skittish, indoor-only homes are preferred. Indoor/outdoor would be fine if after a few months of safely settling in and building confidence.

Their fosters need to finish up in November, and we currently have neither foster or adoptive homes lined up.

Could you give Jiji and/or Sylvia a forever home or foster them while we find their whānau?

Welcome to the rescue, Cowboy ✨

This beautiful 6 day old little boy has just come into our care after his mumma was tragically killed tonight. She ran in front of her owner’s car and was killed instantly. 💔

Her owners are understandably devastated and grieving the loss of their beloved girl, but even through their heartbreak, they did the right thing by her baby and brought him straight to us so we can give him the care he needs.

Please send Cowboy all the love and strength you can. He’s got a long road ahead, but he’s already very loved.

Rest peacefully, beautiful mumma. Your baby is safe. 🌈

Mabel’s two brothers - Waiwai (Black and White) & Stinky (Ginger)

They’re a little worse for wear but at least have some meat on their bones. Once they’ve all settled, they’ll be off to the vets and will eventually find a forever home.

Welcome to this beautiful mama, Meow Meow!

Meow Meow is our first mumma cat to come into care as part of our Desex & Return Programme. Our last mama finished up with us in June, so we’re very excited to give this gorgeous girl and her puku pepis, a safe, warm space to raise her babies.

We’re pretty big on Spey aborts wherever possible, but we also understand that some people simply want a safe space for their cat to have her kittens, especially when they’re not equipped to manage a litter themselves.

That’s where our Desex & Return Programme comes in:
- Mum comes into our care before or after having her kittens
- Her kittens are raised safely inside and she’s also inside so no chance of accidental pregnancies
- We cover their food, litter and medical costs while they’re in our care
- Mum will be desexed, so she never has to go through another pregnancy
- Once her babies are weaned, Mum heads back home to her family and gets to be your baby again

It’s a win for Mum, a win for her babies, and a win for preventing more unwanted litters.

‼️ HELP NEEDED

We recently had a small business generously offer to help with painting our adoption centre. They’ve done some great work so far, but unfortunately we haven’t heard from them about when they’ll be able to come back and finish the job.

We’ve been really lenient with the timeline because we appreciate the work they’ve already done, but we’re now at the point where we simply can’t afford for the painting to delay the opening of our adoption centre any further.

So, we’re looking for professional painters who can come in and finish the remaining painting this week. We will absolutely pay for the work - we just need to get this finished!

I unfortunately don’t have the capacity to take this on myself. I’m already stretched incredibly thin with the rescue, and spending my limited time painting isn’t something I can realistically manage right now.

As much as we absolutely appreciate our amazing volunteers, I also need to be present and guide volunteers through the work, which takes time I simply don’t have at the moment. For this particular job, we’re specifically looking for professional painters who can come in, assess what’s left to do and get it finished.

If you’re a painter, know a painter, or have a painting company who might be able to help us out this week, please flick me a message. We’d be incredibly grateful, sorry for the short notice, but feeling optimistic!
