Today we farewell Rick Middleton who joined Warkworth Lions in 1977 and has always been involved since then.
Rick was club President in 1983/84 and served for many years as treasurer. He also held many other positions in the club and was a Melvin Jones Fellow. Rick's wisdom and wit will surely be missed.

Rest in Peace Lion Rick. Your service is complete.

Three Warkworth Lions members ventured to Ashburton for the MD202 convention. At the convention business sessions there was a lot covered and as always Saturday evening was time to let our hair down with the theme being "Down on the farm".

Warkworth Lions led a fundraiser for the Starship Hospital upgrade. We had a target of $406,700 and raised $431,700. This funded a space plus teaching equipment. A Lions Clubs International Foundation grant of $70,000 helped reach the target.
The upgrade is complete and yesterday a tour was organised for donors/representatives and it is an amazing facility for the children of New Zealand.
As you enter there is a wall which includes acknowledgement of the major donors including Lions Clubs and the Foundation..
Lions members can feel very proud of the outcome.

At a Saturday's Warkworth Santa Parade. Warkworth Lions Club members Qasim Raza and Tanja Dove met up with Santa and Mrs Claus ( who has striking resemblance to Lion Carol Henderson). It was noted the leg belongs to Tanja, not Mrs Claus.

A number of Warkworth Lions members were active in the Santa Parade today doing traffic management.
