❄️ Winter Warmth Tips – Tip #2: Ventilation is Important ❄️

A warm, healthy home still needs fresh air. One of the biggest winter mistakes is sealing everything up too tightly without letting moisture escape.

Everyday activities like cooking, showering and even breathing add moisture to the air. If that damp air has nowhere to go, it can lead to condensation, mould, and that cold, clammy feeling indoors.

Simple habits can make a big difference:
👉 Open windows briefly during the warmest part of the day
👉 Use extractor fans in the kitchen and bathroom

Mitre 10 MEGA Wānaka has a great range of extractor fans and ventilation solutions in store. Have a chat with our friendly plumbing and showroom team to find the right fit for your home.

Supporting mental health in our community
A recent piece in the Wānaka Sun highlights something many people are already feeling, demand for mental health support in the Upper Clutha continues to grow, while access remains challenging, with long wait times and barriers to getting help when it’s needed.
At Community Link, we see this every day. That’s why we’ve strengthened our Wellbeing Connection service by welcoming Sarah Stewart to the team, working alongside Ana.

Together, we can now offer support five days a week, helping more people access local, practical support when they need it most.
Whether you're navigating stress, life changes, or finding the right services, we’re here to help you take the next step.

If you or someone you know needs support, please reach out — you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Helping Local Kids Sleep Warm

Sometimes something as simple as a pair of pyjamas can make a real difference for local children and families.
This winter, Community Link is part of the Kindness Collective’s PJ Project, helping ensure tamariki in our community stay warm through the colder months.

What makes this initiative so special is the ripple effect of generosity:
👉 Donated pyjamas from our local Warehouse go directly to local families
👉 Through a partnership with The Warehouse, every collection helps unlock additional funding for even more PJs
👉 The Warehouse Wānaka has also generously donated $1,000 to the Cold Kids campaign, alongside further support for winter essentials like heating, bedding, and warm clothing

With the cost of living continuing to put pressure on many households, your support can make a real difference this winter.
💫 You can donate new pyjamas at The Warehouse

❄️ Winter Warmth Tips – Tip #1: Stop the Draughts ❄️
Keeping your home warm this winter doesn’t have to be hard — and we’re kicking off our winter tip series with one of the simplest wins!
Even small gaps under doors or around windows can let cold air sneak in and your warm air escape. The good news? These are easy DIY fixes that can make a real difference.
👉 Try draught excluders (door snakes)
👉 Window sealing tape
👉 Foam gap fillers
👉 Window “retro insulate” kits
