🥕 **Fresh produce for our Wakefield Community Pantry!** 🥦

This afternoon we topped up the Wakefield Community Pantry with a load of lovely, fresh vegetables for our community to enjoy.

Have you had a chance to grab some produce from the pantry yet?

We really enjoy being able to give back to our community, and we hope the pantry is proving useful for families, couples and individuals throughout Wakefield.

There’s often a misconception that community pantries are only for people who are struggling to put food on the table. While they certainly can help reduce food insecurity, they’re also about **sharing, reducing food waste and bringing our community together.**

We’re not the only ones contributing either. So many people generously share surplus fruit and vegetables from their own gardens and properties, which is fantastic to see.

Our hope is that the pantry continues to reach lots of people — that those who need something can take it without hesitation, and those who have something to spare feel comfortable sharing it.

If you haven’t checked it out yet, pop down and have a look. It really is a wonderful little asset for Wakefield, and it’s something our whole community can contribute to and enjoy.

Here's a wee bit of a personal post from us.

This week I lost my Mum. 😔

You may have noticed things have been a little quiet on the Big Bake Up front. For the past 15 weeks my Mum suffered a horrid decline from diagnosis to passing away at home with her special people beside her.

As soon as we were told the diagnosis we were frantic with appointments, trips to chch, specialists, hospice, and then 24 hour care.

We have a fabulous team of volunteers who behind the scenes have been working away to keep the magic going.

Whilst this beautiful lady, my Mum, is now free from pain, we now have to navigate the loss of this very special person to our family.

As a charity we are here to support many families through these exact situations, and we thought it was important to share with you.

We will be back, stronger than ever, but for now we need time.

The Big Bake Up is still receiving nominations and referrals and delivering the kindness that we always provide.

Weekend veges are now on our community pantry stand in Wakefield.

Last month 18 parcels were delivered, each containing approx 6 meals so that is a minimum of 108 meals going out the door.

The funds raised from this stand goes directly towards these meals costs.

Our team have been very busy cooking in the kitchen the past month. They have been pumping out lots of yummy food that is shared with families, couples and individuals across Nelson Tasman through our care parcels.
All our meals are cooked, frozen and stored in our freezers in Wakefield. 👩‍🍳

These include: Mac & cheese, some with bacon and some vegetarian. Mince & pasta, leek & potato soup, pumpkin soup, hoisin chicken & rice, leak & bacon creamy pasta.

Thank you to our fabulous volunteers who always give their time so willingly to help others.

The joy of making something special for someone else.. ✨️

The kind hearted woman of Hart Rise in Richmond got together and made 24 batches of cookies for our recipients receiving our lovely care parcels.

Special thanks to Michelle Saldanha for organising and to Jodi from the Craftsman Cafe, Tenielle, Morag & Megan for supporting.
