Upper Hutt has officially joined SMART! 🎉🎉🎉 You are now able to use your SMART library card at the Upper Hutt and Pinehaven libraries as well as place reserves from their collections! There's plenty more books for everyone to enjoy!

Have you heard? From 26 May 2026 – eeepp, that's next week! – we will be part of the SMART library network. 🎉

This means more than 600,000 items across the region will become available for you to browse, borrow, and enjoy at Hutt City, Porirua, Kāpiti Coast District, Masterton, Carterton District, and South Wairarapa District Libraries.

And the best thing: Our move to SMART will be completely seamless for you! Your Library Card will automatically work at all participating branches. 🙌

🎶 Free community bus to Symphony in the Hutt 🎶
Orchestra Wellington has arranged a free community bus service from Wainuiomata to Symphony in the Hutt on Friday 22 May.
This is a great opportunity for Wainuiomata whānau and community members to enjoy a live orchestral concert at Walter Nash Centre, with transport support available to help make the evening more accessible.

📍 Pick-up: Wainuiomata Neighbourhood Hub, 1A Queen Street

🕠 Bus departs: 5.30pm

🎵 Concert starts: 7.00pm at Walter Nash Centre

🚌 Return: after the concert, approximately 8.15pm onwards

Buses depart from Wainuiomata Community Hub ( 1A Queen Street, Wainuiomata, Lower Hutt) at 5:30pm on Friday 22 May to Walter Nash Centre in Taitā.
Buses depart from Walter Nash Centre (approx 8:15pm) and return to the Wainuiomata Community Hub.

Looking to cut down food waste and boost your garden? Common Unity is hosting two hands-on composting workshops, showing how to turn food scraps into rich, healthy soil.

When? Thursday 14 May from 10–12pm and Saturday 16 May from 1–3pm
