✨ MEET THE TEAM ✨

Kia Ora Everyone 🤗

I’m Manaia, the programme’s coordinator here at Standtall. Being a programmes coordinator means I do a wide range of things and that no day looks the same. I manage the social media, I organise, plan and deliver events, I co-deliver workshops, I organise people, promote our upcoming workshops, I go to meetings with our partners and write a whole lot of emails to make all of this happen. I’m also the BOP regional coordinator for which means I do a little bit of teaching too!

I believe that everyone has multiple strengths that they are both good at and enjoy doing so I like to think I help our Rangatahi unlock their true potential and gain some self belief and confidence on the way.

I’m a professional yapper whether it’s about mahi or not because I believe that building a strong relationship with someone will lead to a stronger and more effective outcome rather than skipping over a “get to know” to get down to business.

📍 At Spark Tank, ideas meet experience ✨

Our teams had the chance to connect with speed coaches - people from the community who gave honest feedback and fresh perspectives.

Here’s what teams said they learnt:

• Who their real customers might be
• How to think about pricing and costs
• Ways to promote their idea
• How to improve the product
• And most importantly... confidence to keep going.

Sometimes a short conversation is all it takes to turn an idea into action.

This week we were at the first Piritahi Collective hui of the year. Over 60 people in one room, talking about what’s working (and what’s not) for young people in our region.

The Young Enterprise Scheme Programme has officially kicked off for 2026. We have 7 schools across the Bay of Plenty ready to turn their ideas into enterprise. Coming up…

In the next few weeks Pascale and I will be visiting all the schools to introduce ourselves and hear what brilliant ideas our students might have in mind. For the ones who have no idea just yet, don’t worry we are also coming over to help kickstart your thinking.

On the 10TH OF MARCH we will hold our first YES event of the year at the Cargo Shed in Tauranga. This event is called SPARK TANK and its purpose is for the students to bounce their ideas around with some of our amazing business community. (Psst 👀 you also may find a mentor at spark tank)

We had the most amazing time last week in Wellington at the Young enterprise national awards and finals.

It was a big day for our two top of the region teams. Taurangas and Taupōs teams flew into windy Welly on Thursday morning. They both pitched live to a panned of 8 judges at midday and then got all dressed up for the awards evening where the young enterprise Scheme national winner was to be announced. 👏 👏 👏

We are so proud of every team who went to nationals and especially proud of our two teams & 😊

This November has been full of a mixture of things…

1. Wrapping up YES for the year.

2. Preparing our 2 regional finalists to take on the big stage in Wellington at young enterprise national finals this Thursday.

3. 3 sessions with IBA (look how stunning our classroom with the last session was 😍 🌊)

4. We created a Standtall Brochure that contains pages about our programmes.

5. Fifth and final we are obviously prepping for next year and let me tell you it’s filling up fast!
