Entrepreneur’s in action from Samurai’s point of view 🎥

Last week 17 year old Samurai from Te puke high school was flown to Wellington to be apart of a 3 day experience called Entrepreneur’s In Action. As well as Samurai 39 other year 12/13 students who are apart of the young enterprise scheme programme made their way to windy welly where they all worked on different solutions to problems they felt needed to be solved. The students were all put into different teams, Samurai was in team Sharesies where he was mentored by a Sharesies member.

Thank you Young Enterprise family for organising such a cool life changing experience for Samurai. 🤗

Last week we brought together 6 rangatahi from our recent thrive-x Merivale programme to run a stall selling delicious treats at the Fairy day in the historic village.

We sold Fairy bread, cupcakes, juice boxes and fairy floss. We also gave out hair clips and fairy tattoos to the little ones.

It was such a beautiful day and the event was magical 🌸🧚‍♀️✨

Another Thrive X delivered in Whakatāne with Trident High School and another reminder that young people rise when given the chance to try, build, test ideas and be taken seriously.

Over the 4 sessions, we explored business ideas, creativity, problem solving, branding, pitching and what it actually takes to turn an idea into something real.

✨ MEET THE TEAM ✨

Kia Ora Everyone 🤗

I’m Manaia, the programme’s coordinator here at Standtall. Being a programmes coordinator means I do a wide range of things and that no day looks the same. I manage the social media, I organise, plan and deliver events, I co-deliver workshops, I organise people, promote our upcoming workshops, I go to meetings with our partners and write a whole lot of emails to make all of this happen. I’m also the BOP regional coordinator for which means I do a little bit of teaching too!

I believe that everyone has multiple strengths that they are both good at and enjoy doing so I like to think I help our Rangatahi unlock their true potential and gain some self belief and confidence on the way.

I’m a professional yapper whether it’s about mahi or not because I believe that building a strong relationship with someone will lead to a stronger and more effective outcome rather than skipping over a “get to know” to get down to business.
