Anyone needing to access the Takapau RSA please park on the road and walk in through the Cenotaph gates. No vehicles on the new parking area until further notice while the Takapau Health Centre is getting the area sealed. This will be at least another week. Any vehicles on this area at the moment will damage the base. Thanks for your cooperation.

Tangihanga Notice – Wipahura Heremia (Popeye)
Our beloved Wipahura Heremia (Popeye) is lying at Rakautatahi Marae, Takapau, surrounded by his whānau and loved ones.

His funeral service will be held tomorrow at 11am, followed by hākari at the same marae.

Well, exciting news today. The carpark for the new Takapau Health Centre and the RSA is getting under way today.
Please use extreme care around this area as trucks, excavators and other heavy equipment will be in use.
If using the RSA, it might be best to use the town hall car parks and walk across the road. Please all take care over the time it takes to get this work done. Looking forward to the end result.

🇳🇿 THE GREAT LAST KIWI VETERAN HUNT 🇳🇿

We need your help.

The New Zealand Remembrance Army is trying to identify our remaining New Zealand Second World War veterans — servicemen and women who are still with us today.

We believe the number may now be down to around 25 nationwide.

At this stage, we don't believe there are many — if any — veterans remaining from the early years of the war.

Most of those still with us are likely to have served during the later stages of the conflict, particularly 1944–45.

But we want to find out.
Do you know a surviving Kiwi WWII veteran?

Army, Navy, Air Force, Merchant Navy, nursing services — wherever and however they served, we'd like to hear about them.

Please comment below with their name, age, service and unit/squadron/ship if known.

You can also message the page privately if the family would prefer.

These men and women are now an incredibly precious link to a generation that is rapidly passing into history.

Let's find them.

Let's recognise them.

And, while we still can, let's hear their stories.
