Woweee what a season for our U16 teams! Following up an awesome u18 national tournament our u16 team showed up and showed out. We are so proud of how all athletes, coaches and management represented RBA.

U16 Rotorua Boys – 4th in the nation.
Firstly, going through their qualifying tournament unbeaten is no easy feat. However, to follow that up and go unbeaten through pool play and getting into a position to get themselves into the final is amazing! The boys went down to Auckland in the semi-final and met Canterbury in the bronze play off, where they finished 4th. Help us to celebrate such an awesome season the boys can be proud of!
Along side being top 4, Ty Van Doorne was recognised as part of the All Star 5 team – tino pai rawa atu Ty!

U16 Rotorua Girls
A tournament where there were many games that sometimes went in our favour and others were learnings. The girls were 3 points from making the top 8, which is huge in itself! Many games ending with 5 or less point differences, with our girls finishing 16th in the country; the girls can be proud of how they performed on and off the floor!

Of course, it is wonderful to celebrate the wins, however, we also want to celebrate the growth and skill development that has happened within our athletes this season – which is driven by the awesome coaching and management who give up their time to pour into our athletes and the association – we are very grateful for all you do for our teams and the association!

That's a close on the U18 basketball season and what a momentus one at that!

We, are extremely proud of our u18 girls and boys who went and represented our association with grit, pride and determination.

Rotorua U18 Girls Wrap Up

!!! 3rd IN THE NATION !!!
6 years since the last RBA medal at a National Tournament - well done girls!
What an absolutely amazing result, after falling short in a semi final against the eventual champions, Wellington. The team pulled together to execute a fantastic final game against Canterbury, winning 72-65! Losing one game in the national tournament is an awesome achievement and one your community is very proud of!

Along with the bronze medal, Marewa (VV) made her making earning a well-deserved spot in the All Star 5! Ka mau te wehi VV!

Rotorua U18 Boys Wrap Up:
A huge learning tournament for our team, navigating many external factors providing an undulating tournament, with some close results and good learnings. Leaving everything on the floor, the boys vibes were high finishing 19th in the country.

Laslty, none of this would have been possible without the dedicated and supportive mahi put in from the coaches and managers. Without you this does not happen for our athletes and community, so a big mihi to you all – it does not go unnoticed!
