🏀 Help Shape the Future Identity of Rotorua Basketball

Before we start exploring uniform and branding options, we want to hear from our community first.

This is about more than colours, logos, or designs. It's about understanding what Rotorua Basketball represents and what we want our identity to stand for.

We're asking three simple questions to help guide the conversation:

➡️ What should a Rotorua Basketball representative uniform say about us?

➡️ What symbols, colours, stories, values, or elements best represent Rotorua Basketball and our community?

➡️ What do you want players to feel when they put on a Rotorua Basketball uniform?

Your feedback will help inform the direction of any future uniform and branding concepts. If we're serious about creating something our community can connect with and be proud of, it makes sense to start by listening first.

ATTENTION WHANAU

In collaboration with Rotorua Youth Council - Youth Week 3x3 Basketball Activation is almost here.

This coming Tuesday 16th June at the Sportsdrome, we have two activations see below!!!!

1) 🏀The 3 x 3 activation, each team may consist of up to four players, all players must be in the same age group. At least one girl is part of the team and on the court at all times.

These are quick fire rounds, played on a half court, 4 minutes each way.

Each game will be refereed so subject to the rules of Basketball NZ's 3 x 3 rules and regulations.

The draw will be posted a few days prior to play. Please be prepared to play more than two games. Register here:

2) 🏀 The 2nd activation is the shoot out - just turn up on the day.

Shoot out deets:
• No registration required
• Drop in and play
• Open to all skill levels
• Bring your mates and shoot your shot

📢 COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT 📢

A special shoutout to two of our incredible referees, Wero and Ota, who proudly represented Rotorua Basketball Association at the recent Mid North Qualifiers Tournament.

While athletes and coaches often take centre stage, tournaments don’t happen without referees. Wero and Ota travelled each day, arriving for the first games and staying right through until the final whistle. Their days were often longer than those of our representative athletes and coaches on court.

Their commitment, sacrifice, and dedication to the game are making a real difference, not only for our Rotorua basketball community but for the growth of refereeing across our region.

We are incredibly grateful for the way you both represented Rotorua with pride, commitment, and excellence.

We are in for a great weekend of basketball, whānau! 🏀

The U20 Nationals kicked off today in Wellington, and tomorrow the U16 and U18 Qualifiers get underway in Tauranga.

To all of our athletes competing this weekend, chasing the opportunity to earn a place at Nationals we are incredibly proud of you.

Play hard, back yourselves, support your teammates, and enjoy every minute of the experience.

Huge thank you to all of our officials who gave up part of their Sunday for referee development today 🏀👏

We know we are not perfect officials, but we are committed to learning, growing, and getting better every time we step onto the court. We are proud of the effort, attitude, and courage shown today by all of our referees.

A special thank you as well to the parents, grandparents, and whānau who support behind the scenes with the drop offs, pick ups, encouragement, and time you give, we appreciate you more than you know ❤️

Thank you also to everyone who helped lead and mentor throughout the day.
