Great meeting at Pokeno Toastmasters on Thursday.
If you've been thinking about coming along — I get it.
That first step feels bigger than it is. I've been there too, though it's a faded memory now.

No pressure, no performance, just people working on something that matters.

Where does your odyssey begin?
Tonight at Pokeno Toastmasters, we embarked on a journey — and what a journey it was.
Our theme was The Journey, and our Word of the Day was odyssey — a word that found its way beautifully into speech after speech throughout the evening.
Catherine inspired us all with the beginning of her own extraordinary odyssey: walking the length of New Zealand along Te Araroa — a 3,000 km trail stretching from Cape Reinga in the north to Bluff in the south. The audience was captivated and eager to hear more. 100% Pure New Zealand
Steve kept the journey going all night long as our Toastmaster, guiding us through every twist and turn of the evening.
And Ella gave us a word worth keeping: odyssey. She introduced it with a story about Warren Buffett — one of the world's most successful investors — who once said his biggest fear was public speaking. He counts his investment in developing that skill as one of the most valuable he ever made. You may not become a billionaire, but imagine what opening your voice to the world could do for you.
Where is your odyssey taking you? Maybe it starts right here.
👉 Visit us at Pokeno Toastmasters and take that first step.

Imagine walking into a room and feeling genuinely calm about speaking up.
Not faking it. Actually calm. That's not a personality trait — it's a skill. And skills can be learned.

Pokeno Toastmasters is where locals come to learn that skill, fortnightly, in a warm and supportive environment.
