Auckland Refugee Family Trust

Auckland Refugee Family Trust We donate airfares so that refugee families can be reunited in Auckland, New Zealand Family reunification for refugees is costly and lengthy.

Once visas have been issued to the successful few, it is heartbreaking when the last hurdle of securing money for the airfares proves insurmountable. Visas expire if airfares cannot be afforded. This Trust is 100% volunteer based to ensure that refugees who have been approved for emigration to New Zealand are not prevented from being able to join their families because of a lack of travel funds. M

any refugees in New Zealand are alone or separated from family members who remain in unsafe situations overseas. They are desperate about the safety and survival of those left behind and are unable to settle well until they are reunited. Trust funds will only be awarded to refugee applicants - as funds permit - whose immediate family members have been assessed and approved by New Zealand Immigration. Please donate via direct debit to Auckland Refugee Family Trust: 38-9010-0704176-03 (Kiwibank)

Or donate via our GiveALittle page: https://givealittle.co.nz/org/arft

You can also post cheques to Auckland Refugee Family Trust, PO Box 27 367, Mt Roskill, Auckland 1440

Donations over $5 are tax deductible (email [email protected] for tax receipt)

Your generosity and compassion will ensure refugee families can be reunited.

A reminder that this exhibition is on today and tomorrow at City Side Baptist Church, 8 Mt Eden Rd - the artworks are indeed free to a good home, with the suggestion that the proud new owners may want to make a koha to a worthy cause - including the Auckland Refugee Family Trust, in support of our mahi. Thank you again, Brenda Liddiard, for you kindness!

Look at the beautiful artworks she has created!

We are beyond thrilled to let you know that the family we wanted to assist with flights from Afghanistan have arrived in Auckland.

Almost 40 of you - our wonderful supporters! - answered our call to help this family. Not only have you enabled us to pay for their flights - but what a gift for them to arrive here, knowing that forty kiwis they have never met stepped up to bring them to safety!

Here are some words of thanks to you all, from their loved one here: "Without this level of support, this journey simply would not have been possible. For people facing so many challenges and uncertainties, this service and assistance truly means the world to us and is a lifeline for us."

Thank you all again - whether you donated, shared or liked our post - working together we can provide genuine, practical help to bring families together in hazardous times.

We need your help! We are in contact with a family with three young children, in Kabul. They have been planning their move to Auckland to join family here - but with the volatile situation in Afghanistan, we have been asked if we can help them urgently while flights are still departing. The family all have their travel documents from Immigration NZ.

We know many of you have helped us support families to leave Afghanistan previously - your generosity has made it possible for us to assist many travel to safety, particularly women and girls.

With war clouds gathering once more, we are asking for your help again. Please consider a donation through our Givealittle page: https://givealittle.co.nz/org/arft

75% of asylum seekers in Aotearoa are men who have come to here on their own. Many have wives, children, parents left behind, sometimes in an unsafe environment. The men face a long wait to get Permanent Residency - they can't work until it's approved, so often there's no money to bring their loved ones to join them when the paper work finally comes through. If the families are given permanent residency by Immigration New Zealand, we can help them - but only if you can help us!

Hello lovely supporters!
Is there anyone out there with experience managing social media who would like to volunteer with us to help build our social media profile so we can reach more people and reunite more families? This is not a paid role but you'll gain experience and a great deal of satisfaction from your involvement! The time commitment will be less than an hour a week.
If you're interested, please email us at [email protected] and tell us a little bit about yourself, why you would like to volunteer with us and send an example of social media posts you have written. We look forward to hearing from you!

A huge shout out to our colleagues at IOM Australia - the International Organisation of Migration. IOM organise the travel for our applicants' families - but they do so much more than book tickets. Just last week the wife of one of the people we have supported had a hitch with her paperwork in transit - IOM rebooked her flight and sorted out accommodation for her in an unfamiliar city. We are always grateful for the extra care they give our families!
