🐴🌟AND THATS A WRAP ON TERM 3! 🌟🐴

What a busy, fun and slightly muddy term its been at Southland RDA! 😆🏇

We've packed A LOT into the last few months...

🌟Our riders have been working hard on their riding goals, building confidence and celebrating achievements.

🐴We've welcomed plenty of beautiful moments of connection between riders and horses - from riding and games to grooming, leading an learning all the little things that make RDA so special.

🎓We've celebrated riders reaching their goals and graduating from the RDA program - always a little bitter sweet, but such a wonderful achievement!

🎉We had an absolute blast at our Jingo Night, with lots of laughs, lucky winners and plenty of community spririt.

🎓Two of our coaches are also heading to Christchurch next month for valuable NZRDA training - investing in their skills so we can keep providing the best possible experiences for our riders.

💚 And behind all of this are our incredible volunteers, coaches committee members, families and supporters who turn up, muck in, lead ponies, make cups of tea, clean up, organize things, fundraise and generally make magic happen!

And then there are our horses... 🐴❤
Patient, clever, cheeky, occasionally opinionated 😂 and absolutely central to everything we do. Snacks are coming. You've earned them. 🥕🐴

So to our riders - we are SO proud of you! 👏
To our families - thank you for trusting us with your precious people. 💚

Now its time for a little breather before we do it all again!

Have a wonderful school holiday everyone!

See you next term!

🐴💚 A HUGE thank you to Aotearoa Gaming Trust! 💚🐴

We are incredibly grateful to Aotearoa Gaming Trust for their generous grant supporting Southland RDA! 🙌

Their funding has covered a whole year’s supply of hay for our horses – something that makes a huge difference to the ongoing cost of caring for our amazing four-legged team. 🐴🌾 Our horses are at the heart of everything we do, and keeping them happy, healthy and well-fed is essential to providing safe and enjoyable sessions for our riders.

The grant has also contributed towards sending two of our coaches to a valuable NZRDA training day in Christchurch next month. 📚🐎 This gives our coaches the opportunity to build their knowledge and skills, learn new ideas and bring that learning back to Southland RDA to benefit our riders, volunteers and horses.

We truly appreciate Aotearoa Gaming Trust recognising the value of what we do in our community and helping us continue to provide these important opportunities for people with disabilities. ❤️

Thank you, Aotearoa Gaming Trust, for supporting Southland RDA and helping us keep our horses fed and our coaches learning! 🐴🌾💚

💙 A huge thank you to ILT! 💙

Southland RDA would like to say a massive thank you to ILT Foundation for their generous grant supporting the wages of our RDA coaches, grounds person and administrator.

This funding makes a real difference to our ability to keep our programme running safely, smoothly and consistently. Our coaches are at the heart of what we do, helping our riders build confidence, develop skills and enjoy the many benefits of being involved with horses. 🐴💙

Our grounds person and administrator also play an important behind-the-scenes role in keeping our facilities maintained, organised and ready for our riders, families and volunteers.

We are incredibly grateful for ILT's continued support of our local community and for helping us provide a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for people of all abilities.

Thank you, ILT, for helping Southland RDA continue making a difference! 🐴❤️

The spring winds have come early this year and are wreaking havoc on our riding sessions. We have had to make the tough call to cancel ride sessions again today while this front moves through. Stay toasty everyone!
