We aim to restore and regenerate the natural ecosystems of the Eastern Bays to create a sanctuary alive with birds, enhancing the lives of our residents and visitors.

Kia ora Songbirders!

This Thursday, join us at Kohimarama Forest from 8:30am to midday as we continue tackling pest plants and helping native vegetation thrive. Removing invasive plants is an important part of restoring the forest and giving native species room to regenerate.

We meet at Pamela Place Reserve, with plenty of parking along Pamela Place. Please bring sturdy shoes, gloves and secateurs if you have them.

Kia ora Songbirders! We had another amazing session last week at Kepa Bush. We are slowly chipping away at the Japanese Honeysuckle and Privets that have been thriving over the past few years. The photoset was a small section weeded from that day.

We are on again tomorrow at Kepa Bush from 8:30 am to midday. The team can meet weeding enthusiasts at the Kepa Road entrance.

We also have our regular Kohimarama Forest session on Thursday, same time: 8:30 am to midday. Meet the team at the end of Pamela Place.

A huge ngā mihi nui to the incredible Kohi Kippers for their generosity. After taking out first place in the Summer Swim Series, this hardy crew of Saturday‑morning swimmers chose to donate their $1,500 winnings to the Eastern Bays Songbird Project.

Their contribution will help us invest in advanced automated traps, boosting our ability to reduce pest numbers and protect our native wildlife. It’s an amazing gift from a group known for showing up every week, rain or shine and for welcoming swimmers of all abilities into their community.

We’re deeply grateful for their support and for the spirit of generosity that keeps projects like ours thriving.
