This week, we’re keeping it proudly Taranaki as we put the spotlight on New Plymouth musician, songwriter and artist Kayleb Duckett and his album Speechless Housefire. 🔥🎸

We'll be playing a different track every weekday from 9am and tomorrow you can hear the kōrero with Tyrese on The HeARTy Breakfast thanks to the Toi Foundation.

Released in March 2025, Speechless Housefire is a truly homegrown creation — written, performed, recorded and mixed entirely by Kayleb at home. Playing every instrument himself, Kayleb builds each track layer by layer, creating a wonderfully distinctive DIY sound influenced by 60s pop, psychedelia, experimental music and the everyday world around him.

And when it’s time to take those songs out of the bedroom and onto the stage, Kayleb is joined by a crew of local musicians as Kayleb Duckett & Friends.

His passion for our local music scene doesn’t stop with his own work either. Through his Bright Yellow project, Kayleb documents and celebrates New Plymouth music through interviews, videos and events.
