Heritage Tent at the Highland Games 2025.
Many thanks to Selwyn Libraries for their support.
Great poster from Heritage NZ. The Hororata museum created some wonderful new boards celebrating the history of hospitality in the Hororata area to fit in with the Games theme.

A fantastic morning with the CHF bus trip. 31 visiting the museum and cottage for morning tea.
Fabulous weather ment we could have morning tea sitting in the sunshine.
The museum looked wonderful thanks to a lot of hard work by the committee members.
The archive room floor is finished and we are getting things back on track so that we can host more bus groups.

Have you seen the Selwyn Libraries Township Trails APP?
We are on it! There are a number of heritage walks you can do around the Selwyn area. The Hororata Heritage walk starts at St John’s Church and takes in the heritage buildings and sights in the Hororata Domain and the Hororata township. The APP gives you photos and information for each heritage site. The walk finishes at the Hororata Museum. It isn’t a loop but if you’re coming with a group we can open the museum and provide transport back to your cars. Alternatively park at the Domain which is in the middle of the walk. Contact us at [email protected].

A great day in the Heritage Tent at the Hororata Highland Games. We are celebrating 160 years of Cotons Cottage this year. The display boards looked fantastic and we enjoyed speaking to many people about the cottage, the museum and the heritage homes in the Hororata area. It was great to have Heritage New Zealand and Selwyn Libraries there as well to showcase what they are doing in the area. Many thanks to everyone who helped out and a special thanks to Heritage NZ for the wonderful poster on Cotons Cottage.
The Hororata Parish High Teas were very successful and everyone enjoyed sitting down, having a cup of tea and reading the display boards.
