Today we went on a little excursion across the road to visit the ducks at the pond.... unfortunately the ducks didn't get the memo we were coming and they had all made other plans (in other ponds, we assume!)

However that didn't stop us from exploring, finding favourite sticks, running around and playing on the playground!

Maybe next time the ducks will be there 😀

Today was our last session for Term 2.

We spent the morning celebrating Matariki, we made some gorgeous stars, using wool and cardboard circles. The tamariki and parents all enjoyed creating these; there is no wrong way to create art, they are all beautiful!

Miss M opened up her Cafe again where she served her friends, they had play money and were able to order Fluffy's either with or without sprinkles, wafer snack biscuits, choc fish and strawberry cake! Yum yum.

And of course there was the usual playdough, sandpit and all sorts of other fun stuff happening too.

Thanks for a fantastic term everyone, I look forward to seeing you all back in term 3.

We reopen on Wednesday 22nd July.

We had a lovely session today learning to weave harakeke into flowers.

One of our parents is doing the Playcentre education and chose to do this activity as part of his course.

I taught him the 'rules' around harvesting harakeke, and have attached a copy of the karakia we used.

I've also attached a photo of the break down of the harakeke plant and which parts to harvest and which have to be left alone.

The tamariki enjoyed learning and watching the parents weave. Next week we are going to make harakeke fish 🐟

Welcome to Term 2 💕

This morning on our drive to Hororata we saw the most stunning bright rainbow!

We had to pull over to take a photo, then got chatting about the colours we could see.

This became our focus for art. There was lots of chat about what colour to put on the rainbow first and which goes next, both in English and Te Reo.

The tamariki were using fine motor skills to draw with cotton buds to create their rainbow art. Some of the children created their pictures on their own and some had help from mum.

We now have some very bright beautiful art work to put up on the wall.
