𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝘆! 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗣𝗢𝗗 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗞𝗶𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸, 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘆

Submissions on the proposed fitness POD lease at Kirkpatrick Park, Camberley close this Friday, 5 June, at 5pm.

The proposal would allow the M.E.K.E. Foundation to continue delivering FREE community fitness classes from a POD (container-based gym) located beside the basketball court.

A previous trial saw strong participation and reported outcomes such as improved wellbeing, increased social connection, and reduced barriers to exercise.

Hardcopy submissions can be made at the Camberley Community Centre, Hastings District Council customer service centre, or at the Flaxmere and Hastings libraries. Alternatively, you can make a submission online: https://www.myvoicemychoice.co.nz/hdc/request-for-a-lease-fitness-container-pod-kirkpatrick-park/

Following submissions closing, feedback will be presented to Council, who will decide on the proposed lease at a future meeting.

𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝘆: 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗣𝗢𝗗 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗞𝗶𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸, 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘆

Hastings District Council is inviting community feedback on a proposed three-year lease to the M.E.K.E. (Motivate Engage Konnect Empower) Foundation for a fitness container (POD) at Kirkpatrick Park, Camberley.

The POD would be located next to the basketball court and used to deliver FREE community fitness classes for local residents.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀:
A trial POD previously operated in Camberley and achieved positive results, as reported by participants, including:
- improved physical health and wellbeing
- increased confidence and social connection
- better access to affordable local exercise opportunities
- reduced barriers such as transport and cost

It also helps deliver on a key outcome of the Camberley Community Plan, establishing a gym.

Following the trial, a three-year lease has been requested by the M.E.K.E Foundation for the POD and submissions are now being sought.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱:
Kirkpatrick Park is a Recreation Reserve under the Reserves Act 1977, so Council is required to publicly notify the proposal and consider community feedback before making a decision.
