🎉 Terrific Tuesday at Hamilton Park parkrun, Gore 🎉

What a weekend to be part of something special 💙

Across the world, parkrun celebrated an incredible milestone — the 1,000,000th parkrun event took place this weekend! 🌍✨

It’s amazing to reflect on just how far parkrun has come:
👉 From just 13 runners and a handful of volunteers in London in 2004
👉 To a global community active in 23 countries
👉 Hosting around 2,800 events every weekend
👉 With over 12 million people registered worldwide
👉 And delivering almost 140 million finishes across the journey so far

Every single one of those events — and now one million of them — has been powered by people just like us: walkers, joggers, runners, and volunteers showing up for their community each week 💛

Right here at Hamilton Park parkrun, we’re part of that story. Every barcode scanned, every cheer from a marshal, every step taken — it all adds to something much bigger than a Saturday morning.

Here’s to the first million… and to the next 😊

We’ve got a couple of awesome achievements to celebrate this week – and we love seeing our parkrun whānau hitting these special milestones 💙

👏 Samuel Maarschalk – welcome to the 10 Club! A fantastic effort building those early parkrun habits – we’re so glad to have you as part of our community 🙌

👏 Hudson Roy – a big congratulations on reaching the 25 Club (clocked up at Invercargill parkrun)! Awesome commitment and consistency – we’ll happily claim you as part of the wider southern parkrun family 😊

What a beautiful start to the morning at Hamilton Park parkrun, Gore 🌅

We were treated to a stunning sunrise as we got underway — one of those crisp Southland mornings that reminds you why getting up early is always worth it.

A big shoutout to our birthday stars this week:

🎉 Happy 18th birthday, Ola — a special milestone to celebrate with your parkrun whānau!
🎉 And happy 8th birthday, John — what a fantastic way to mark your day out on course!

As we head closer to the shortest day of the year, the cooler starts are definitely making themselves known. It’s adding a bit of fun to the “what do I wear?” challenge each Saturday morning — but whatever the choice, the goal stays the same: keep warm, keep moving, and enjoy the morning together.

Thanks to everyone who came along and to our amazing volunteers who made it all happen. See you again next week! 💚

Oh humble fence post of Hamilton Park,
Keeper of hoodies, jackets, and that one rogue beanie.
You stand strong each Saturday,
Bravely supporting the layers we definitely didn’t need after 400 metres.

You never complain when we fling a fleece your way,
Or when someone hangs a rain jacket that’s still slightly damp.
You simply stand tall, hold our stuff,
And watch us puff our way around the course.

So here’s to you, fence post —
