Tutus at the ready!

Did you know that when parkrunday falls on the 22nd of the month, it becomes Tutu Day?

So, for our 22nd birthday, we want to go one step further with a sea of tutus at parkrun this weekend.

Who’s in? 🧡

*****XMAS Day & New Years Day Special parkruns*****

We have created a questionnaire and google doc roster regarding the Special xmas period parkruns. It would be great if over the next few weeks we could get as many people to answer the questions so we can see whether it is feasible to run one or both of these events. Click the link for the questions a link to the roster is included at the top of the top of the form.

parkrun HQ have put out the call to event teams for expressions of interest regarding Xmas Day and New Years Day events.

We didn't have much interest in holding the 'Special' events last year but now we are a bit more established maybe we will this year.

To make it happen we want to have the volunteer roles covered off well in advance.

So if you are interested in running and/or volunteering at either or both please let us know and maybe we can make this happen :)

The rosters are pictured to show how many volunteers we will need.

It was another great parkrun this morning, with 52 finishers and 13 volunteers turning up. Thank you all for being there.

Something special happened today as we welcomed eight people to parkrun for the very first time. We believe that is our highest number of new individuals in a single event this year. We also had another eight first timers. Visitors joined us from Hamilton, Greytown, Wellington, Christchurch and Palmerston North.

The course was very friendly for PBs, with seven people collecting one. That included first finisher Jarod Shinn, who has now been first to finish at four of our last five events. He was absent two weeks ago. A special mention also goes to event director Gavin Teahan, who knocked 17 seconds off his national PB and 19 seconds off his course PB. Colin Clark was also 13 seconds quicker than his previous national PB. Fantastic running! 👏

There were no milestones this week, but we did have a birthday to celebrate. Happy birthday to Cameron Radford, who was visiting us from Hamilton! 🎂🥳

Did you know the 10 most common birthdays in New Zealand all fall within the 13-day period from September 22 to October 4? And tomorrow, September 27, is the most common birthday. Go the Libras! ♎

Jarod Shinn and Carley Bruce were our first finishers. Carley is becoming a consistent female first finisher, with another great run today. Keep up the strong running!

A huge thank you to all our volunteers. We couldn't run parkrun without you!

Want to give volunteering a go? Drop a comment below or send us a DM and we'll add you to the roster. We always need new volunteers, and it's fun and easy. All our roles are easy to learn, and we provide training and support.
